Tonight I'm a Longhorn fan

I'm just going to pretend that BYU is in the Big12 and one of our conference members is center stage tonight.

I have to say that the Texas Notre Dame game was very, very enjoyable. Hookem, I'm sure you must have been pretty nervous in the 4th quarter. Without too much invested, I was able to calmly watch a GREAT football game.



Clearly the most effective two-QB system I've ever seen, and you guys must be stoked about the Freshman....He plays well beyond his years.



Congratulations... and here's to a great season for the Longhorns!

First game of the season, so I'm gonna temper my expectations, but what I saw on Sunday is what I've been waiting to see for 7 years now. A team actually playing with some passion and physicality against a tough opponent and not cowering after getting punched in the mouth.



This still a very young team, so how they respond week to week is the big question mark. As far as the qb situation, Coaches have been quietly telling people that Buechele is the real deal, but seeing Swoopes run like he did was fantastic. This team has finally come together in the locker room and are playing with great chemistry. Charlie had to purge a lot of the Mack Brown left overs in order to get it to this point. Now we're seeing the fruits of his efforts and patience, hopefully... Also helps that we finally got an offensive identity.



Good luck this week fellas. I know this is a big one for you. I'm pulling for my fellow Texan, Ty Detmer.

ABC did a pretty interesting spot on the history of recruiting in the Lone Star State. To me the message was that the Longhorns have lost whatever edge (and some luster) they once had.



But I, too, got a sense of a new energy with the team and the fans on Sunday. An air of EXPECTATION. Maybe that energy will be felt by some talented prospects that were looking other ways?



Do you know what Charlie's recruiting plan is? how he's going to address the problem ABC spoke of?



Gotta put Houston in its place! (my personal bias coming through)

I'm not worried about recruiting. Charlie has pulled two very talented classes the last two years despite losing seasons. He likes to take his time with evaluations and close late, extremely late.



If this season turns into a disappointment, then I'll change my tune.
