Richmond beating UVA

Wow, I hope Bronco Mendenhall wasn't planning a long career as HC at UVA. You absolutely don't lose at home to Richmond in your first game.



Honestly I'm glad to have KS as our coach. No regrets, but BM is a good guy and I didn't want to see him go down in flames.

To be fair to Bronco. UVA has been an awful program for many years. It's going to take several years for him to turn that mess around.



And second, Richmond went to the FBS semifinals last year, something I'm not sure UVA could have done. I don't think they could get there this year either.

37-14 Richmond. Good thing Bronco is a defensive genius, or the score could have been ugly!

I've always thought Anae was not the best fit as an OC. So he and Bronco's other assistants now have their big payday. Hope they don't spend it too soon. With that kind of money, the program is expected to win. Assistant coaches will be replaced before the HC.

Way to show your class guys. I personally am rooting for Bronco to succeed at UVA. He is a good man and a good coach who gave his all at BYU. He deserves better from BYU fans.

Agreed frdbtr. Bronco was true to BYU when he was here. He represented us well and never had a losing season. He ran his course here, and I'm excited to see Sitake and company grow as a staff.

I think the intent of the posts I am referring to was pretty clear.

As much as I'm still pissed at him, I actually want Bronco to be successful at Virginia simply because he'll always have that connection with BYU.

And as much as I hope Bronco succeeds, sadly there is a sick part of me that feels a little jilted and while I think BYU I fans realize overall what they had, I'm not to convinced he realizes what he had at BYU. Another few of these losses and he will see what boos and boosters and the boorish media are like in the outside world.

Like a jilted girlfriend that sincerely loves the guy and wishes him the best, you can't help but feel a bit of schadenfreude when the girl he left you for mistreats him. Not that you hoped he'd get hurt, but there's that small bit of smug satisfaction when the grass turns out to be just as (or less) green in the other pasture.



And here's hoping he doesn't hold a grudge against the Hoos fanbase for booing...

Bronco left BYU. He left us. Not vice versus.



He was great for BYU. He's a great man; someone I'd likely enjoy hanging out with. Fans gave him a hard time, but he didn't do much outside of running a good program to endure himself to the fans. He "endured" the fans and you could tell.



I wish Bronco all the best, but until he finds a new OC, he's not going anywhere in his career. Broncos loves to tout Anae's "top 25" offense but forgets he had a barn full of NFL caliber offensive weapons (Hall, Collie, Peta, Unga, etc.) He had the best OL BYU has had in the last decade. And let's not forget Bronco loved to talk about how much control he gave to Hall & company. So, that Top 25 offense had little to do with Anae. Until Bronco realizes that and ditches Anae, I doubt Bronco does any better at UVA than he did at BYU.

Typical ignorant BYU fan rant. When the offense does good it was because the players overcame bad coaching and did well inspite of it. When the offense does bad, it is because of bad coaching. Oh brother. :roll:

For me it wasn't "schadenfreude" but "fremdschämen." Which is when you feel embarrassed when someone else has embarrassed themselves.

To ignore the athleticism and accomplishmenst of some of the best offensive players to play at BYU is not giving them credit.

Well, off the top of my head, the 2014 offense averaged almost 37 points per game, right behind the John Beck 2006 offense after Taysom Hill and Jamaal Williams were lost for the year. How many of those players are in the NFL? Did Heaps play better before or after Anae left? Was it the players or the coaching? I am seriously sick of hearing about how Anae only succeeded because of Max hall and Pitta, it is an ignorant statement. Anae is a good Ocoordinator. I am happy that Detmer is here and I feel he can be better in the long run but to say that Anae sucked and only succeeded because he had NFL talent is ignorant.
