Arizona Game 2016

Time to start talking about the first game. It is a white out correct? Time to order our tee shirts for the game. We are going to it. Here is a UA fan's take:

I think the offense gets a td on at least 3 of the first 5 possessions. They don't know what's about to hit them. White it out baby!! This season starts with a statement.

That UA fan is incredibly misinformed. BYU has TWO legit QBs. There are probably only 5-10 schools where their starter wouldn't be 3rd string at BYU this year.

Five years ago, BYU couldn't make a right decision at the QB position. This year, there may not be a wrong one.

I agree with your statement. However, I think Arizona might be one of those few schools. I think Solomon would start over Tanner.

Might. But might not. He might be one of the few who would actually be competing for playing time. I wouldn't trade Solomon for Tanner.

I'll be at the game also I can't wait! We have the best dual QB's in the nation this year. Simply can't go wrong with either one.

Looks like this will be an extra-emotional game for Arizona as one of their O-Linemen passed away in his sleep overnight.

Could mean they show up amped up and motivated, or could mean out-of-sorts.

My pick for this Game BYU 24 - Arizona 10.

Why because BYU is an unknown right now to Arizona and BYU's Defense will be better than people think and Sitake knows Arizona's coaches and what they are capable of because 6 seasons a Utah's DC and 1 season as Oregon ST.'s DC.

The offense is a question mark but I think that Ty wouldn't be that stupid to throw away the offense entirely that produced BYU best offensive performance since Crowton's first season. In any case I know the QBs will be ready.

No way BYU only gives up 10 points to Arizona and Coach Rodriguez.

As a Defensive Coordinator, Sitake face Rodriguez four times, once at Oregon State and three times at Utah. The results were NOT pretty.

2015: 44 points, 276 yards passing, 368 yards rushing

2014: 42 points, 222 yards passing, 298 yards rushing

2013: 35 points, 168 yards passing, 300 yards rushing

2012: 34 points, 160 yards passing, 320 yards rushing

Four game averages: 38.75 points, 206.5 yards passing, 321.5 yards rushing

Yeah, I'm so hoping that Tuiaki turns out to be some sort of defensive genius and BYU's defense doesn't struggle. I have a feeling though, that about half way through the season we are all going to be wishing that Bronco was still running the defense.

He hurt his foot late in the Utah bowl game and has been out since. Sitake previously said that getting Tuiloma healthy was more important than getting him playing. So it sounded like he was progressing faster than thought.

What happened to his foot? anyone know? another lisfranc?

Didn't know he was even injured. That partly explains why suddenly Utah was able to get a first down right at the end of the game. The defense absolutely dominated with him in the game.

Turns out it was a Lisfranc with a surgery in December. Bummer. hope he gets completely healed up. A guy with that injury and his weight makes for a longer expected recovery.

Yep. BYU's defense, despite being put in awful positions at the start of the game, shut down Utah's offense except for basically the final drive when they needed to get a stop and give the offense one more chance to tie, and without Tuiloma, they couldn't do it.

Here is how the Ute offense performed in the bowl game:

1st Quarter:

1st drive: 6 plays, 25 yards, TD

2nd drive: 1 play, 1 yard, TD

3rd drive: 5 plays, 39 yards, TD

(BYU stops turning the ball over)

4th drive: 5 plays, 19 yards, punt

2nd Quarter:

5th drive: 3 plays, -2 yards, punt

6th drive: 3 plays, 5 yards, punt

7th drive: 3 plays, 5 yards, punt

8th drive: 1 play, -1 yards, end of half

3rd Quarter:

9th drive: 3 plays, -1 yards, punt

10th drive: 7 plays, 26 yards, punt

11th drive: 11 plays, 46 yards, stopped on downs

4th Quarter:

12th drive: 8 plays, 38 yards, stopped on downs

13th drive: 7 playss, 22 yards, end of game

I don't believe Tuiloma played in the 4th quarter.
