This is the Tribune, so it's only got a 50% chance of actually being correct

I don't know what to make of it exactly, but it doesn't necessarily mean there is anything they had to decide, as they meet monthly. How do we know this wasn't the regular standard meeting and because of this issue being in the news, they wandered over to the sports facility. I just think too many people are getting too excited too soon.

This is a Jay Drew piece, so you have to read it carefully to get the details straight:



1) Some LDS church leaders visited the athletic department last week. Nothing new there--high level LDS church leaders visit the athletic department nearly every week.



2) The LDS leaders were not necessarily members of the BoT. He never identifies them or their positions. He just says the BoT is made up of LDS leaders, but never closes the loop.



3) The LDS leaders last week met with some department heads. When they stop by (as they regularly do) they tend to say hi to the management, not to the tutors and janitors.



4) The meeting this morning did not include any LDS leaders or BoT members. It was just the athletic department staff. This meeting takes place every Monday at 10am.



So, you have a lazy writer who has taken one possibly newsworthy bit of information (a couple people attending the routine meeting hadn't seen the agenda!!!), and coupling it with other routine facts to try to manufacture something sensational.

It was pretty good on Jay Drew's part. Nothing out of his normal modus operandi. He got more hits today than he would normally get. Happens any time you say something that everyone wants to hear and do it in a way that looks like your saying more than you actually are.

Not being in or from Utah, I don't see a lot of Jay Drew. This is a "consider the source" situation.

Another reason would be to reiterate to the employees that big changes are coming but they need to be sworn to secrecy until public announcements are forthcoming
