Visiting Toledo fan question

Aloha, Toledo fan from Hawaii (go figure) here with a question. I'm thinking of making the trip to Provo for the game against the Rockets on Sept 30th. Apparently, single game tickets don't go on sale for a couple months, but there are tickets available on stub hub. How do you recommend getting a few tickets for the game? Will good seats open up in August when BYU sells their single game seats? Should I get what I can now?



Looking forward to watching a good game in the mountains. Happy to share some insight on the Rockets in this thread if anyone interested.

Good tickets will be available August 18, for less than $50. Toledo is a very good team, but not a big "name", so it won't be a sell-out.

I heard Toledo lost their coach. Who was the replacement? Did they hire within? Were their key losses from last year's team?

toledo is historically strong in the mac. we had a memorable 3 year unbeaten streak ending in 71 with 3 straight tangerine bowl wins and top 15 rankings. the program had a down time of losing seasons in the late 2000s but was still dangerous (won at michigan in 08) the last 6-7 years we've been decent to good. last year was our best team since 2001. the strength of the team was it's physicality. we hit people harder than they expect. while there is a lot of focus on the loss of very young rising coaching talent matt campbell. who was both a talented hard working good coach, and an inexperienced young coach, most toledo fans are more concerned with how we replace a deep group of seniors on the dline and def backfield. our new staff was formed by the oc and top recruiter who came out of same line of coaches. so, the culture and systems will be similar, but there are a lot of new assistant coaches which is a concern.



our "star" player is kareem hunt who is a college version marshawn lynch type rb. very powerful, likes contact but has good moves. however, our rb depth is a big strength. one of talented backups just switched to db because there are so many good rbs fighting for carries. our oline is veteran and proven. our wideouts are mostly big, but we got a skinny slinky slot named corey jones who will be used as a possession receiver but beats you deep if you bite early.



defense was our strength last year. we beat 2 ranked teams (at arkansas and temple in the bowl) by being more physical. we are rebuilding our line around our stud nt/dt hester. pretty set at lb-and got a grad transfer who started 2 games last yr at Florida, but replacing several proven dbs. expect to see a team that looks like a p5 team in terms of size, speed, and hitting. we never know how a new year's squad will gel, especially with new staff, injuries, etc... so no predictions. this will be the best big games road trip atmosphere of the season for toledo so they should be up. will be good fun. really want to make the trip



and, mars, can you tell me what sections or seats might open up for $40-50 on August 18th? I found some $45 upper level mid field seats online, is that a fair price? i'm not trying to get killed by stub hub scalpers but if i'm gonna make the long trip would pay to find a good seat (well 3) for a fair price.

Upper/middle end zones, middle/upper corners, upper side decks on the west/east. The last of these may be going for as little as $20 on game day to fill up the last few thousand seats, but that doesn't help those planning in advance.



$45 sounds good for midfield, even higher up. It would be overpriced for high end zone or corner stadium tickets, IMO.



BYU fans don't do much tailgating in general, but if you're interested in that scene there's always a smaller group we can point you towards that will be there early.

I might have an extra ticket. Hmu later, happy to enjoy the game with an opponent fan. I might be loud and ridiculous, but oh well. Happy to hit tailgating together too. Last year's victory over Boise St was insaaaaaaaane.

you guys are great, I am coming with my daughter and her former linebacker boyfriend. so we will take a full 3 seats, but the offer is very generous. would enjoy cruising with some BYU fans pre game. Will keep the message board communication going, especially as Sept 30th approaches. Go Rockets!

Take the chance to walk around campus. I think they do campus tours from the Alumni house (I'm out of state). It really is a special place. I would visit the Creamery for some ice cream or another treat.

Depending on game time and travels and such, try to hit some of the scenery near Provo. There is beautiful outdoors with hikes and waterfalls not too far from the campus.
