The Pac 10 got outscored by a total of 53 points this bowl season...

There's no good reason that any Pac 10 team finishes in the top 15 and only Oregon has an argument to remain in the top 25.

There's an outside chance that the Mountain West could have 4 teams in the top 25 (if AF gets some love for their big win; sad that they let the Navy and Minnesota games get away or they legimately would deserve recognition) - 2 teams in the top 10 - and 3 teams in the top 15

Considering the Pac 10 and other BCS conferences get a pass for beating each other up, then BYU Utah and AF should get a pass for what I think is losing to the best team in the country this year, TCU.

Look no further than the wins that CSU got out of conference yet struggled mightily in conference.

What about USC? They beat Ohio State ON THE ROAD, beat Notre Dame, and won their bowl game over Boston College...

If BYU is a top 15 team then Oregon is a top 15 team. BYU's best wins were Utah and Oregon St. Oregon also beat Utah and Oregon St.

BYU also beat AFA and OU both have arguments for being top 25 teams.

If OU and AFA have an argument to be a top 25 team then so does Arizona, USC, Stanford, and Cal. Oregon beat 3 out of those 4. Yes, Oregon has one more loss, but they do have more quality wins and nothing as embarrassing as the FSU debacle.

Yes, but Oregon barely beat Oregon State and BYU blew them out. And Oregon lost three games this year.

USC and Stanford maybe. Any fringe top 25 team that loses a bowl game doesn't have an argument to finish in the top 25 unless it was a close loss to a team ranked higher than them, so Arizona and Cal are out.

Beating ND hasn't been a real accomplishment since the fifties...

West Virginia (16) and Stanford (21) should both drop out of the top 25. IMO, if you are ranked and lose to an unranked team in your bowl, you should drop from the rankings.

The bowl result doesn't erase an entire season.

Arizona beat more teams that finished with a winning record (5) than Oklahoma and Air Force combined. Cal beat 3 teams with a winning record including Stanford and Arizona. They also killed the same Minnesota team that beat Air Force.

Both Cal and Arizona deserve to be ranked before Air Force and Oklahoma.

So their wins came from weak out of conference games and even weaker conference games? The question really should be which conference is better top to bottom, Pac0 or Sunbelt.

Completely agree.

The bowl season always has its share of surprises and upsets, but I dont think it erases the entire season and body of work of a team.

Teams are more (or less) motivated to play in bowl games depending on situations that we probably dont know or have any knowledge of. (take BYU vs Arizona last year). Arizona beat an unmotivated BYU team, but it doesnt necessarily mean they are worldbeaters and a that because of that victory the PAC-10 is much better than the MWC. If you use that logic and discount the regular season the MWC had last year, than its unfair to the MWC to belittle what had already been done.

lol. this coming form the guys whose conferences have been in my opinion exposed this bowl season. I do agree though, a bowl loss doesn't erase an entire season. At the same time, the MWC more than likely going 5-0 doesn't hurt either. I'd bet that BYU, Utah, and TCU, (possibly AFA) finish in the top half of the pac-0 this year.

That TCU win is going to sting, eh westidaho?

No, because (given the outcome of the game) BSU was not motivated to be playing a MWC team.

Why would losing to TCU sting? They are a great team. Getting blown out by TCU might sting a little, but they are a great team, and if they blow out BSU than they deserve all they have accomplished, and have been wronged by the system that did not let them get a shot at Alabama.

I obviously am a BSU and BYU fan, but love TCU and their program. The real travesty of the whole bowl season is that these two teams have to play each other.

Why you have to ask me if it will hurt if BSU loses is a little odd. Is it going to sting for you if BSU wins?? Does it undo the ranking and perception of BYU and the MWC if TCU falters? I dont think so. Just as if TCU wins it does not make BSU a terrible team and program.

Yeah, but how many of those 5 were weak PAC-10 teams?

None. You can't be weak in the Pac-10 and finish with a winning record.

Here's an interesting note:

The Pac-10 is 8-10 in nonconference play against division 1 teams that finished with a winning record this year (including bowl games). The MWC is also 8-10 with the TCU-BSU game left to play.

The Big East had the best nonconference record against winning teams 13-8.
