Latest word is he was a non-qualifier out of high school (grades) but then they reversed the decision. By then he had missed out on his offers and was at the CC before leaving on a mission. He currently has 4 years to play 3--but BYU is going to try and appeal to get his 4th year back because of the status mess up right out of school.

This was his stats at Scottsdale Community College:

10 games played.

23 receptions for 401 yards for an average of 17.4 yards per catch and a long of 49 yards. 4 receiving TDs.

2 rushes for 10 yards with a long of 7 yards.

10 kick returns for 204 yards for an average of 20.4 yards per return with a long of 31 yards.

He actually received offers from: Missouri, Northwestern, Okla. St, Purdue, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, and BYU. Have people already forgotten what a stud receiver he was coming out of Texas--1st team all-state 5A?? I know he never panned out after his hammy issues, but sheesh--his star was BRIGHT when BYU landed him.



Out of high school, Beau Tanner only held offers from Kentucky, Cal, and BYU. After his CC detour, he only had offers from UCLA, Kentucky, USU, and BYU.... If anything, it's a compliment to Tanner to compare him to Jacobson on the basis of recruiting alone.

It was reported that Texas A&M also offered him.

IIRC, McKay J contributed much more than Rod W. Wasn't it McKay who caught the go ahead score against Oklahoma, and the long pass from Riley Nelson on fourth down to save the game against Utah St after Heaps was benched?
