2011 Scheduling News!

Big news announced today- Tom Holmoe says that something may be announced soon!!



Okay, some sarcasm. But I do wonder at the possibilities.

Anyone have a list of what teams still have openings on their schedule in 2011?

"The Cougars’ nonconference football schedule in 2010 will include visits to Utah State and Florida State and home games against Nevada and Washington. But the 2011 out-of-conference schedule still has holes, with a home game against Utah State the only contracted game thus far. Washington and Arizona State were on the 2011 schedule, but both games have been canceled, as has been previously reported.



Holmoe said he has been working hard on the 2011 schedule, and could have an announcement soon. He offered no other hints. “We have some things that will be coming down the road here in a little bit. It is not 100 percent finalized yet, but we have some things we will be announcing in a short while,” he said. “We are still trying to work out some details.”"

My inside source is telling me that Utah is trying to get off our schedule.

Maybe he'll just announce that we will play USU the Friday before General Conference?

I see us playing another Big XII team...

Oh please let it be Texas or Penn St, please!!??

I'd take LSU as well. LSU and penn st didn't look too impressive this year.

I don't want to play Texas Tech. 1) I don't think we could beat them and, 2) I'm very ticked at that university right now.



How about a rematch against SMU?



I'd also like to see us play Nebraska or Oklahoma State.

Yeah, Texas Tech sure looked tough in their narrow win vs a Michigan St. team who suspended more than half their starters...

We would take Craig James' former team to the shed!

It'll be highly unlikely that we'll play another OU type of school. Going undefeated it the main priority, that, no matter who is on our schedule will almost guarantee a BCS bowl game.

I don't think we have to be perfect any more. A one loss team will make it unless BSU is perfect.

That won't matter because BSU will be in the MWC in 2011.

That is consistent with what Bronco Mendenhall said in 2008, then 2009 rolled along and he changed his tune to, "We'd like to take on some of the top teams so we can gauge where we are" (paraphrasing), so unless he changes what he is saying once again, then I'd expect some OU type matchups. Bronco when as far as to say in November that now BYU might have to schedule the 2 for 1's that earlier in the season he stated that BYU was beyond scheduling. Reality set in and he realizes that under the current reality of scheduling, unless he does, he won't get any more top teams to LES. There's only so many places you can get a FB team to do a neutral game at.

Wouldn't it be sweet if Penn State was one of the other two games as well?

Holmoe said last year that he was working with Auburn and Nebraska to figure out a deal. He didn't say for which seasons.

Give us Auburn. I wouldn't want to play Nebraska if their defense stays as good as it was this year in the same year we already play Texas. I would be all over playing an SEC and Big 12 team the same year though.

I'll take Nebraska. That D was really good, but their best guy will be the #1 pick next year and is gone forever. Without him, they are still good, but not unbeatable. Especially with how bad they are on O, and at the QB position in particular..
