Draftexpress's take on KC NBA chances

Overall, Collinsworth has the hustle, rebounding prowess, and versatility to contend for an NBA roster spot. However, at 24 years old, he may be deemed far too much of a finished product considering how limited he is offensively to invest a draft pick on. His basketball IQ and court-awareness is strong, and if he somehow manages to improve his shooting woes to even a respectable efficiency, he'll have a chance to carve out a career as a versatile backup. Otherwise, a long career in Europe awaits him, and his ability to speak fluent Russian (which he learned during his mission) could actually come in very handy.

If he can show some serious improvement in shooting mechanics, then he would have real chance.

According to ESPN, KC was a 2* recruit coming out of HS. So it would seem he did pretty well in college, based on that. He should make a lot of money in Europe.

Criddle had an NBA scout on the show yesterday, and he didn't see Collinsworth even faring well in Europe. Said he thought his game was best suited to Israel where there is more iso-play or somewhere like Russia where he has a cultural advantage.



The guy's read was basically that Collinsworth made a career of playing as an oversized point guard where he could overpower smaller, younger guys, and his length would make him appear to be a better defender than his skill really showed. That advantage disappears at the next level, so you are left with an above-average passer and rebounder with bad shooting mechanics and below average defense in a scoring league. Said KC won't even get a combine invite.

I kind of agree with what this guy is saying, however, I wonder at the same time if true, why doesn't anyone else in the country do the same things KC did during his career? If you could take an average player and shift his position so he has a height advantage and thats all it took to make a KC then why don't people replicate it across the country. I don't totally buy that he is limited to Israel or Russia because of these limitations. Its true he probably doesn't get much of a shot at the NBA, but mainly because he's not a shooter. If he somehow fixed his shot he could be a very good NBA player - of course thats a Huge if.

The guy's point was that if the NBA didn't want him because he is not a shooter, why would Europe want him when Europe expects even more out of its guards as far as shooting goes.

Except they still only play with one ball in Europe. Not everybody can be shoot happy. Kyle can balance the other guy out with his passing and rebounding.
