Changes/addition made to the Virginia series

The 2019 game @ Virginia has moved to 2021 and will be played in Provo. The 2023 game scheduled @ BYU will be played in Charlottesville. Another game has been added and will be in Provo in 2025.

Sorry--had to change my original post. I got a little excited before realizing the game MOVED from 2019 to 2021. So now the future games are 2021 @ Provo, 2023 @ Virginia, and 2025 @ Provo--as compensation for moving the 2019 game.

So Virginia gave us a 2 for 1 in our favor as a "thank you" for us sending Bronco over? That was nice!

- BYU and Virginia will meet in Provo on Oct. 30, 2021. No guarantee will be paid to the Cavaliers, and there is a $1 million penalty for canceling the game.



- BYU and Virginia will meet in Charlottesville on Sept. 9, 2023. The Cougars will receive a $450,000 guarantee, and there is a $1 million penalty for canceling the game.



- BYU and Virginia will meet in Provo on Nov. 1, 2025. No guarantee will be paid to the Cavaliers, and there is a $1 million penalty for canceling the game.



- Virginia will pay BYU a payment of $250,000 for changes to the original contract and original amendment by July 15, 2016.

BYU is essentially getting everything they could ever want out of this series.

Yes! mid-late season games, guarantees, high buyouts, games in our stadium.....Holmoe deserves a high five here.

Can we get more games from them? How about a 20 year deal?

So does this mean that Bronco will be gone by 2021? I remember him being asked about it and him making some comment about moving the series until after he was done coaching there.

It is also rumored that the renegotiation had to do with the coaching buyout of Bronco--perhaps some game concessions instead of cash concessions.

Bronco said he hoped he wouldn't have to coach against BYU, not that he wouldn't. It will be interesting to see if he's still there or not by that time.

We should have 7 home games every year we play at Hawaii. Unacceptable to travel out there otherwise, in my opinion.

Isn't our road game in Houston vs LSU a money game anyway? In other words if we schedule a money game at home don't we get the same financial benefit of 7 home games this way? I get that our fans should be entitled to a 7th game and that would be preferable, but its not like we really have 7 true road games with the way the money works out.

While agree with you on principle, shouldn't you really have had the 7th by game 4? ;)
