VT game

VT guards are tough. Have done a great job of limiting 3 point shots and.... well..... I'm not sure what BYU has if they aren't throwing up 3s.



going to be a tough game to win. Hope the elevation kicks in soon.

Going to come down to the wire it appears.

VT sooooo good at getting the foul.

They do a great job of getting a defender on a hip and then jumping into the body for the shot. Gets called almost every time. Very smart basketball. Good coaching. Much preferable (to me anyway) of most of BYU who will shy away from contact and shoot some weird, off balanced, fall away shot that is either easily blocked by a 2nd defender or a low percentage shot.

Up 3 with 5 seconds to go. Fisher at the line to shoot 2. Made first.

Awesome win!



Thank goodness President Monson canceled my scout meeting on Tuesday so I can caucus at the Marriott Center with my Cougars!!!

Hard fought tight game. KC did not get enough RBs to get the triple double.

In some ways this was much more impressive than the last win. Virginia Tech scored on so many consecutive possessions, silencing the crowd over and over, but our guys just battled through it. When we couldn't get a rebound we managed to finally get a steal instead. And we found ways to score despite everything.

Just a few things I saw:



VT's length and athletic ability completely took away most of Fischer's, Emery's or KC ability to finish drives. They smothered Davis, Kaufusi and Austin inside. But we didn't hang our heads and we kept on fighting. Over the course of the game we adjusted to how much space we needed. (And VT got tired.)



In a way I am sad that Seljaas is leaving a mission. He wasn't overwhelmed by their athletic ability or the moment. He just made some big time plays on offense and defense.



Thank goodness most of our 3's were going.



Someone need to give Aytes a big hug. Everyone else on the bench was engaged and happy. He looked alone and miserable.



To me this game cements KC's weaknesses against higher level athletes. They didn't guard him on the perimeter and his power drives got swallowed up several times.



So many times I see Kaufusi almost get into the right position or almost use the right footwork. He needs more film study, basic offensive footwork or basic defensive footwork drills. It is frustrating because physically he can do it. He just doesn't have the fundamentals.



For that matter why isn't Davis stronger? A redshirted RM Junior should have plenty of time for strength training.

Another thing about Davis, why does he seem to miss point blank, nearly uncontested layups nearly every game. Those should be easy points and he seems to consistently overshoot or clank a couple gimmees each game. he seemed a lot more solid early in the year.

Well luckily I found out that you could sign up to caucus on-line for Tuesday.

#32 on VT may have had the ugliest "jump" shot with the lowest vertical of any D1 player I've ever seen in my life.
