With today's announcement that the PAC-12 signed a 3-year contract with the new 19,000-seat T-Mobile arena, the MGM seems like a probable spot for the WCC whose contract with the Orleans had ended.

The MGM holds 4,000 more seats than the Orleans and the WCC should be able to sell most of that extra capacity.

For the championship game or any game between BYU and Gonzaga we could use the extra capacity, but we don't fill up the Orleans otherwise. I don't mind the MGM, but the Orleans is a lot easier acces and a pretty nice set up. I would be ok if we stayed with the Orleans.

What would help the WCC more is not having the championship game mid-week. It needs to be on a Friday or Saturday.

I don't mind having the WCC tournament played on the days that it is. If you move it to this weekend, it gets swallowed up in all the P5 tournaments and would be completely overlooked. There is no way you get Musburger and Vitale in the house calling the game if it were on this weekend, and it would probably be relegated to ESPNU at best.

Then move it to last weekend.

I think that makes more sense to me too. Or play the first rounds the thurs, fri and sat, then play the semi's and final the next Fri and sat (this week). I'm sure they could be scheduled so they get ESPN and espn2. Most of the p5 tourneys play EST and CST. It would probably put more butts in the stands.

And all of the teams involved in the semis and finals and their fans and those running the tournament would do what for the week in between games? Hang out in hotel rooms in Vegas for a week? Go home and incur the costs of traveling back a week later? None of that makes much sense. The WCC tournament prior to BYU joining the conference held their championship game on Sunday night a week ago. When BYU joined the conference, they adjusted the tournament schedule to accomodate BYU's no Sunday play rule. Seems a bit ungrateful on the part of BYU fans to complain about the logistics of the WCC tournament IMO.

The biggest problem with the WCC tournament is the split. Even it it's in the middle of the week, they'll get more attendence if they don't split it up. Run it Mon - Thurs or Wed - Sat. As it stands now, Gonzaga, BYU and SMC fans basically wait to go till Monday.
