BYU vs Gonzaga

Man, do we get THE WORST ESPN commentators or what? The officials have also been all over the place in this one, ticky-tack one moment, let 'em play the next, can't see that a ball is two feet from Emery's hands when it flies out of bounds, don't call Seljas getting slapped on the arm, but get the tech right when the Zag player pulls him down like a punk. What a bizarre first half.

Male commentator: "Man, Seljas got hammered on that play! You could hear the skin slap up here!"

Female commentator: "Defender appeared to get all ball on that play."

With how we're shooting, we're lucky to be in this one. We just need to start hitting shots, we've had plenty of open threes for our shooters.

They said the players just got tangled up;"incidental contact" that kind of incidental contact could dislocate a shoulder.



The big Zag run in the first half was made possible by some very tenacious defense while being allowed to pound on the BYU players with no fouls called

BYU SHOULD be beating the snot out of the zags. They had at least 10 turnovers in the first half. BYU is outrebounding them, especially on the offensive glass. This game shouldn't be close but BYU can't hit the broad side of a barn. Could turn around quick if BYU starting hitting some shots though.

sheesh. This gonzaga team came ready to play tonight. Feel bad for the ROC students who waited since thursday to see this. BYU starting to get frustrated (or maybe i'm just getting frustrated) and playing harder but not smarter.



BYU HAS TAKEN 16 MORE SHOTS AT THIS POINT!!!



They should not be down 10. That's just awful shooting.

BYU expended a ton of energy in the first half getting those turnovers. I wonder if that combined with the short turnaround (playing 2 days ago) has contributed to some fatigue this half.

Sabonis must be preparing to play in the NBA. He just travels all he wants, and the refs don't call it.

Whelp, you don't want to leave it to the officials, and they're not going to call anything in the closing moments unless it's egregious, but Collinsworth got bear-hugged on that in-bounds play.

Man, Saljaas on the follow, Nick Emery getting 2 great looks, KC missing about 5 point blank shots that he typically makes, FTs, BYU had their chances and played great defense at times. Just couldn't get the ball to drop tonight.

I think Mark Few (in a brilliant moment) realized that you could bear hug KC and make him hit 2 FTs. Bonus in that scenario is if the refs don't call anything and you get a turnover. Worked to perfection.

If I'm Rose (and I'll probably get blasted for saying this) I take KC out of the game for the last 3.5 seconds. He banged up, he's going to be the focus of mark few and the zags defensive strategy, he doesn't have enough time to create something which is his strength. Just put in your best 5 shooters and draw up a play that either has someone open for a three or a backdoor cutter for a quick 2. Having KC out of the game would almost eliminate the entire zag game plan for the last 3 seconds.

Stupid refs. Can't believe they made BYU miss 45 shots tonight.

If I'm Rose, I go away from Nick Emery who wasn't having a good night at all but desperately wanted to be the hero in the waning minutes of the game. I think Fischer hits either of those looks.
