I don't think I've ever seen more smoke without a fire in my life. it would be hard to believe, after reading that article and the level of political "sidestepping" that U of Cincinnati administration has gone through to keep private any aspect of communication with any B12 conference officials or schools, that there wasn't some legitimate "negotiations" going on at the base of these actions. They're getting away with it too.



Personally, I haven't liked that public institutions cannot operate on any level of discretion in their affairs. There are things that the public doesn't need to know. Issues and affairs that don't deal with normal operations and really, other than being able to expose what's going on, would any news media need. They ask for it because legally now they can, but I still don't agree with it. If there is an legal investigation involving wrong-doing, malfeasance or a defalcation, yes, I can see access to that information in those instances. Making administrations "having to" divulge operational information when discretion in very key in the positive action they are involved with is wrong in my book. I realize I want to know, but I don't agree that it's right.



Honestly I think there has been so much smoke from the B12 that it would be incredible that more hasn't been decided than what we've been lead to believe.



BYU is not going to be invited. We have to come to terms with that in some positive form and move on.

I'm not expecting or not expecting an invite to a P5 conference. If/when it happens it will be a thing. Until then its not a thing to me. Nothing BYU can do about it so why worry.

I came to terms with the fact that BYU was never going to be invited to a P5 conference 2 years ago. It's incredibly liberating and once you accept the fact it actually makes enjoying what BYU has that much richer.



When you remove the emotional response of wanting BYU to be invited you can see and understand the reasons why it doesn't make sense from the BigXII's perspective to invite BYU and then you wonder why anyone ever thought BYU would be in.

I agree that the Big 12 is not going to invite BYU. And I don't care. However, I don't believe that it makes no sense for them to consider BYU. I think that BYU made a lot more sense than West Va did, if they care about geography. If they don't care about geography (they shouldn't), then there is no reason for them to reject the best program available in terms of size, fan base, national brand, and television draw. The Sunday-no-play issue is immaterial in my opinion. I think it is used as an excuse, the same way that the PAC used graduate research as an excuse. I think I know what their real issue is, and although it causes me to lose respect for them, I'm not going to despair over it. It is what it is, and I have been enjoying BYU's independent schedule and increased TV coverage. I'm fine with it.

Totally agree and what is added exciting to me is that while I doubted in the beginning, I really see independence as being relevant, exciting, noteworthy, and a viable way forward.

Should the Big XII expand? Well, they should have gone to 14 while the ACC was on the brink of extinction. Now, outside of BYU, there really aren't a lot of good candidates left. Hence, I think that ship has sailed, and the Big XII is on the path to extinction. BYU will still play an exciting brand of football, and I will still be watching. I absolutely love being able to watch them almost every week they play (unless it is an away game on one of those regional crappy cable channels).
