I'm not following the staff at UVA as that is old news, but it was interesting to see what the result would be of so many former BYU players/coaches being unleashed on recruiting in the ACC world.

Per Charlottesville's The Daily Progress:

"No prospect is given a rating any higher than three stars on recruiting websites. Virginia’s 2016 class currently ranks 60th nationally on Rivals (12th in ACC) and 59th on 247Sports (12th in ACC).

Hard to compete against the Miami, Florida State and Clemsons with not even one 4-star recruit. CBM left a better recruiting class, where at least he had a few 4-stars.than the class he ended up with at UVA.

Byu is a destination school. UVA is not. I have said this for years (months, specifically about Bronco re: recruiting anew at UVA). Bronco is going to realize how good he had it here when he actually has to go recruit kids aND make nice with the local high schools.

UVA had the 44th best recruiting class last year, 41st the year before that, 28th the year before that, 27th the year before that, 25th before that. A coach just needs to win there and recruits will come.

Wow, CBM is going to really struggle too not be 3 and out over there in Charlottesville unless something improves, because being 61st (Rivals) in the nation will not get you anywhere in a conference like the ACC, which had 4 of the top 25 recruiting classes. His impact immediately on recruiting was not really felt beyond bringing in a 3-star recruit that was coming to Provo until KS had his scholie pulled in the wake of a offer to Sione Finau.

Although ESPN only gave us a "C" grade on our recruiting, I'm sure if it were measured, KS and his staff's effort in 6 short weeks would have graded out at maybe a B+ or A-. I believe had we flipped at least one of the big recruits from Utah that last recruiting weekend (Anae, Bills, Fotheringham, Maea), KW would have been balling his eyes out.

He might be three and out but he'll still have $16M

Bronco has shown to be good at getting a team turned around. The downward trend for UVA that he inherited is from continually poor and losing seasons, which Bronco hasn't had. It will be a great feat to get that program turned around and it will be interesting to see if the coaching staff can duplicate what they did here. If they do, I see recruiting trending back up there.

Which is not bad. Not bad at all. I am guessing, but I would imagine, if that happened, that Bronco might be the kind of guy that might go back to raising horses and surfing at that point or just enjoying the last few years at home of his three sons. We'll see.

I truly want to believe that Bronco will be successful, but the vibes I've received in the 6 weeks that KS has been at the helm is that maybe CBM had his success because he was at BYU, and as Brayden Green noted earlier in this thread, "Byu is a destination school". I think a lot of the work in recruiting is done just by being a coach from BYU and while CBM used that fact as a position from which to try to have players themselves recruit themselves to, KS actually uses the glow of BYU sports as a tool--a propane lighter, except he then puts rocket fuel in the lighter and hopefully the "bang" will be beautiful to behold.
