I wish we had gotten a more proven guy here. Our defense could keep us in games next year while Ty got the offense under control and made it possible for us to still win games with that schedule. Now we have a first time OC, a first time DC and a first time HC all with a schedule that is going to be as hard as any schedule in the country. IMO, we will be lucky to go to a bowl game next year.

As optimistic as I usually am, these are valid points. It's hard for the whole system to gel instantly. Everything is new, and with a brutal schedule.

BYU has to put things together quickly, especially if we switch to the 4-3 (which I would prefer). I haven't been impressed with the 3-4 in the last few years with regards to putting pressure on the quarterback. I think that BYU could easily field the big uglies up front to put pressure on.

As Sno has pointed out, the main thing about the 4-3 is that they have to be good at creating pressure without constantly bringing the extra backer, because that puts a lot of pressure on the d-backs.

I have been thoroughly impressed with the front 7 at Utah over the last decade, and I really like the idea that the two people directly responsible for that are our chief defensive minds.

You could argue the difficult schedule could allow for an extended honeymoon period for this fairly inexperienced coaching staff to get their feet underneath them.

I would prefer a 6-6 honeymoon instead of a 3-9 honeymoon.

I think if BYU doesn't go to a bowl game next year (Hawaii) then the honey moon will be officially over. If BYU gets to 7 wins, most fans will be accepting of that.

It's going to be intesting o see what he uses. I think Bronco had it dialed in pretty well. BYU I can't consistenly recruit good DBs as opposed to LBs and DLs. So, I don't mind a 4-3, but as said it puts more pressure on the DBs and I just don't think BYU will be able to recruit these guys. We are lucky with Warner. But consider having to start Hanneman and convert Davis. And those were our starters.

We got two 4 star DBs the last two years with Lake and Warner and a few 3 star. Maybe we are starting to do better there now.
