What can be inferred by the Detmer hire?

Preface: I love BYU and have and will support whomever the coach is. I was not anxious for Bronco to be gone, but I'm not at all sad that he's chosen to leave. I am glad that he took his OC with him. I kind of wanted Niumatalolo, but in reality thinks it's best for him, Navy, BYU, and all others that he stayed put.



But as I have been on "Detmer watch" I have been wondering what it means if he actually comes on board. I have to think he's been asked before, by BYU and who knows who else.

So, why now?

Is it the new head coach? Could those who have been saying that Sitake's energy and proclaimed love of BYU is in fact bringing back a brotherhood be right? Has there been lying dormant right in front of our eyes, people with the knowledge, power ($$), connections, etc. that have been longing for this reunion of LaVell protege?

Is it intellectual accord? I believe Ty to be a very intelligent person. What I didn't know is that Sitake was a scholar-athlete of the year at BYU, so he clearly has brains, and maybe that's the hook that got Ty?

Is it Mangum? Does Ty see a chance to not only get a Heisman, but coach one as well? Has that happened before?

Is it his Nephew? Clearly family is very important to the Detmers. Has he had any other nephew play college ball yet?

Is it the next step in a grander plan? Based on what little I know,it seems the sky is the limit with him. Does he have dreams of coaching a super bowl winning team?



I am a small speck of sand on the beach. But I am screaming at the top of my little lungs, that I am about as excited about BYU football as I have been in a long time

It could be that his kids are growing up, going to college and can now move to a new home easily.

I thought Tebow was a freshman the second year urban meyer was there.

I infer that the offensive pass attack at BYU just got real. The Detmer coached offense will be insane. It will have growing pains, but wow, this will be fun.

He was. But i think earned it and coached Danny Wuerfel to a heisman.

Byu will not accept losing to Utah anymore. BYU is taking off the kiddie gloves monetarily and is going all in.



Good for them. It will pay off in spades.
