I just saw this on ESPN, you'd think that they'd at least wait until after the bowl game. What could he have done that was so serious that they need to suspend him right away? Did he molest the kid or something?

There was a TT press release that said it had to do with his conduct towards an injured player.

Apparently he locked the kid in a closet twice, for three hours each time, just because the kid had a small concussion. If this is true its pretty messed up.

According the the Leach camp, it was done under the team trainer's supervision as treatment for a concussion--dark room for 3 hours each day.



What is just coming to light is that the player is Adam James, the son of Craig James, ESPN commentator extraordinaire. I wonder if TTech isn't being extra cautious given the extreme scrutiny that will come to bear given that the ESPN family has a personal stake in this drama.

What interesting is that the contract provides that the university can reprimand, fine or fire him, but there is nothing about suspension as a permissible disciplinary action. Some have opined that suspension is a generally available disciplinary action for the university to use against, all employees, but Leach's contract states that nothing outside of the contract itself is binding unless referenced in the contract, and the contract doesn't mention any other employment policies.



I think Leach has a pretty good chance at getting his TRO, depending on what revelations the TTech side can make at the hearing in the morning.

Not if Leach succeeds in getting a TRO in place allowing him to coach the bowl.



I really think this all started with TT looking for a way to fire Leach with cause as opposed to firing him without cause. What TT didn't count on was Leach fighting back very publicly and the fan-base backing their coach (the most popular man in Lubbock) as strongly as they have. Just check out the TT fan forums to get a feel for how the fans feel about this. I don't think Adam James comes back to TT next season after this. Casey Clausen thought he had in rough in the pubs, AJ better not step out in public.



Here's a link to the emails that are pouring in, lambasting Adam James....and these are just the emails from players and coaches....I can't imagine what the fans are sending. What's funny is that these emails are being forwarded to all the media outlets, and all of them are reporting them.....except for Craig James' employer ESPN.

From all reports from the team it sounds like Adam James is a punk kid that thinks that because his father is a former all-american and a current (horrible) broadcaster with ESPN he can get public opinion on his side. Problem is that when the facts come to light, it sounds like it will be shown that Leach did absolutely nothing wrong.



If TT does fire Leach, he'll be unemployed for about 2 seconds. He instantly becomes the hottest available candidate for any job, and TT will have a hard time finding a top flight replacement. No big name will want to come in after this mess.

Yep, sounds to me that Texas Tech and the James family underestimated the groundswell of support Leach would receive from players, coaches, donors, and general fans of the program.

Leach needs to save himself future problems and just buy a sensory deprivation tank. The science of what he was trying to do MAY not be too far off...
