Sitake or Anderson

Like the poll says: if the rumors about Ken N staying at Navy are true, there aren't many other viable options. If it were up to you (given that they're both willing to take the job), would you go with Kalani Sitake or Lance Anderson and why?

To me Anderson is more interesting, but there have been no indication that Holmoe likes him over Sitake. I think Sitake would have an edge because he is a BYU alum.

I say Anderson, beause there's evidence out there that he can actually coach



(PS this is probably a little more rude than it should be - If Sitake is our next coach, he'll get my full support for at leaast his first year, and thereafter as long as he earns it)

Anderson and it isn't close. we already know he has been a successful coordinator and Sitake has not. I would choose half of BYU's coordinators who are leaving with bronco over Sitake as well, I would choose Kyle Whittingham over Sitake, even though it makes me throw up in my mouth to say it.

Haha...I'm the lone Sitake guy. But I was picking more what it seemed like was going to happen. Personally I like Anderson the best of the remaining candidates. I'd love to see what he could do as a HC.

Anderson. Comes from a more successful program. He has Harbaugh singing his praises.

On the drive home this afternoon, both Blaine Fowler (on 700) and Dick Harmon (on 906) said that from what they have heard, Lance Anderson was contacted, but before it got to the formal interview stage, it was determined he wasn't the right fit. Fowler added a bit more color and insinuated that Anderson and his personality were not what TH and the BoT are looking for as a HC to be the most public face of BYU.



So it sounds like Anderson has already been found wanting.

I like Anderson's recruiting abilities. We need that at BYU. With him on board, BYU could possibly out-recruit the utes and the PAC programs regarding in state athletes as well as LDS players elsewhere. Also, I think Anderson would be loved by the players. I would actually somewhat prefer Anderson over Niumatalolo, though perhaps unfairly. KN is a good man, but I don't know if the players would embrace him as well. There's a certain austerity with KN, it seems. It's not as severe as with Anae, but just a feeling I have, since meeting him. As I said, this is probably an unfair perception, since I have not really gotten to know him personally. I could actually get excited about either of these guys taking the helm. Sitake, on the other hand, seems like more of a risk.

Wow, Sno, I had not yet seen your post at the time I was typing up mine. That is very disappointing news regarding Anderson. I wonder if he swears, or what it is that he did on the phone that caused TH to lose interest. Bummer.

Agree. Seeing that Harbaugh compliments and stands by Anderson - and he is in charge od recruiting at Stanford - and he is referred to as "The Wizard" as the Defensive Coordinator at Stanford; I am all in with Anderson based on work history and accomplishments.



Sitake is more of a work in progress. He has lots of upside - maybe. From everything I have read about Sitake, I think he would be a good hire. That said, is he the best to step in as HC to a program that is firing on all cylinders right now - have a seamless transition - continue the high level of recruiting - and high level of execution on the field.



There are lots of question marks about Sitake. And yes, lots of question marks about Anderson. Neither man has HC experience. I lean on Anderson's work experience at a great Stanford program and it impresses me more.



I'm lighting a candle for Tom Holmoe every day - hoping his crystal ball is working well. ;)

Why on earth were you listening to 700? I'm convinced ute fans don't ever listen to their radio guys during the week or on play by play of they would never dare mention that wrubel is overly biased.



I've wondered why there's so little info about Anderson and so little discussion. I figure it had to do inpart to KN having a lot of information due up being a HC and the local media know all about Sitaki. Lance would be the hardest to gain info on and inside stories. I know nothing about him but his resume sounds slot better than Sitakis. One is the coordinator of a great program at an excellent school that anyone would want to coach at. The other is the dc at a program that struggles at a school that struggles to get great coaches and players.



To me if he wants to be the BYU coach it's an indication he's probably up yo the BYU standards or else he wouldn't bring it up. Doesn't mean he'd be a good spokesman (like anae).



If be excited for Sitaki and can see him landing some great local guys. I see lance getting the Troy Warners of Mormondom but again all I know about him is he's the DC at Stanford and has a good rep as a coach.

Hans Olsen did his best to sell Sitake on the radio today. Made some good, albeit fairly obvious, points about Sitake being able to rally the BYU alum, get Poly recruits, etc.



From an emotional standpoint, Sitake seems like a good pick. Especially since he would no doubt see the rivalry game for what it is. Something Bronco never did.



But in terms of recruiting, X's and O's, and overall coaching ability, Anderson seems to have the edge.
