Only the top entry on the form would be tithing funds...

Can confirm, no other entry on the form counts as tithing other than the line marked as tithing.

Imagine what LDS Ute fans would do if this actually happened. Many of them would probably threaten to leave the Church. Not that it would be a major step for them. Any active LDS member who roots for the U is flirting with apostasy anyway.

I believe that the State of Utah uses my tax $$ to pay KWhitt. How about doubling the pain for every LDS Ute... Pay Urban Myer with Utes tithing money. Never mind, I forgot they probably don't make sufficient pumping gas to afford Urban.

With Ken likely getting a better deal out of this and Bronco putting together basically an all Mormon staff with huge salary increases this whole process has more than likely generated over $1MM in annual tithing funds. We just need to interview a few more tithe payers and allow them to leverage our offers and we could supplement the current salary enough to entice anyone!



Make offers to Reid, Kwhitt, bevell, Steve Young, scalley, Sitaki, Lance Anderson, and Ziggy Ansah and any other Mormon in football that could get a counter offer. Boom....P5 coaching money paid by someone else.

Bingo! Email them to every member and request that they be generous - for the "Coach" fund. Give until it hurts. LOL!

I think there are various steps the church should be taking that would both help the mission of the church and help BYU.



First, the LDS business college really is unnecessary, as other educational opportunities are out there for SLC residents. Turn it into a college prep academy for international LDS students. Ziggy is a rare athlete, but there are a lot of other members out there that combine excellent academic achievement with athletic ability.



Second, talking about Ziggy, build a BYU-Africa. The members there need it, and it would be a huge PR gain for the church in a way that online courses at BYU-Idaho simply can not do. Putting a university in Ghana by the temple would be seen as a much bigger, positive step then billboards in NYC. Further, it would provide a continuous, ongoing source of strength for the church.



Third, expand BYU, especially non-members. Equalize the tuition. You will get more converts by having them at BYU as they choose into the environment. It would also increase the quality of students. By expanding the university, you maintain the same number of LDS students.



Fourth, build BYU-Brazil. Plenty of good talent there, and it would serve the South American saints well.



The church leadership seems to be artificially limiting the growth of BYU. It is not a good thing for the school or the church.

That is because running a University is extremely expensive. Tuition is already subsidized heavily by tithing. If not so, my tuition would not have been only $1520 a semester when I went there. And today it would be more like the $25,000/year or more that people pay at private universities. And that does not even consider the other millions of dollars in facilities, salaries of faculty and staff, etc. No, if the Church could afford more universities to serve the members, it most likely would. But it is just too expensive to run a University. There will not be any other Universities added. I could see expanding BYU enrollement as a possibility in the future, but right now they don't need to because BYU Idaho is not turning anyone away. With BYU Hawaii, BYU Idaho, and BYU, any LDS kid that wants the experience and can get there can get in one of those three institutions.

The main purpose of BYU is not to recruit non-members, but to create a college atmosphere that is uniquely LDS.
