BYU vs UC

What did BYU eat for lunch? they are dragging out there. KC with a bad pass/turnover and no hustle to get back on defense = 3 for UC.

BYU looked like they hit a wall after they got to 15 points. Don't look like they are in this one for some reason.

This is just not a great year for BYU unfortunately. I can't watch, but I've been listening to the KSL broadcast. Sounds like this team is in disarray.

Collinsworth look clueless out there. Can't defend, constantly out of position. won't pass to any of his open teammates. Drives in to a group of 4 guys and just chucks it up. Why he is playing point guard when we have a clear better option in Emery is beyond me. Rose has officially lost his team. He is a great coach, but he is wrong about Collinsworth playing point.



He's a ballhog, and not even a good one.

Wow, this zone defense may be alright against WCC, but as Utah and now Colorado are showing, it can easily be beat with some good 3 point shooters and a couple guys who can get to the lane and collapse the zone. Very difficult to watch.



BYU just doesn't have the horses to keep up with good athletic teams like UU or UC. Ugh.



Frustrating.



Here's a couple things

1. BYU needs to get their head on a swivel when the are prancing back in transition defense.

2. SOMEONE needs to defend King as he's galloping out of control in transition. He's one of the WORST ball handlers I've seen this year.

3. As much as I love what KC has done for this team, I can't wait to find a real PG and floor leader.

4. Go BYU!!!!

BTW, looks like Utah got clobbered by Wichita state today.

Spot on. As to #3, we have that player. It's Emery. But he has to default to KC for no reason other than seniority.

Anyone else tired of these 2nd half runs by BYU? Where was this in the first half



Great last 3-4 minutes by N.Emery. steal, 3 point play, deep 3, fast break layup. Getting some solid minutes by Seljaas, but he does get caught too deep in the lane trying to play help defense. He needs to anticipate the ball going to the corner and cheat that way a little sooner after the ball is clearly not coming to the lane/rim.

UC just pulled an entire line change, much like BYU vs alaska or someone in exhibition/early season play. Let's see if BYU can weather this storm.

Seriously? can't get back on defense after the missed front end of a fischer one/one? Ugly.

At this point, just play Seljaas and let him develop. Fischer has had a damn ugly game tonight.

BYU will not beat a team with a good big like Poeltl or Scott. Unfortunately that includes Gonzaga.

So much for collinsworth being a better 3 point shooter. BAD miss there.

If Collinsworth could drive with his head up he might notice he is running into a triple team, and back out of it or pass out of it. Fortunately for teams playing BYU, he doesn't, and the best defense against BYU is to let him drive and get up in the air, collapse, and then watch him chuck up a wild shot.



If our seniors would figure out how to play with the rest of the team we might have a shot at winning these games. Instead, they want to be the alpha dogs and watch the team flounder under their inability to score and defend.

Agreed on the Srs part. They had a terrible game.

Cougarstats just tweeted that collinsworth and Fischer were 8/32, rest of team 22/45.

Now the bright side:

1. Emery and Seljaas are gamers. They are both great in the spotlight.

2. Kyle Davis hit all the freethrows I saw him take.

3. This team has a lot of potential... next year.

I did not watch or listen to the game, but the stats show that we had several players with a decent game:

So is Colorado really that good? Is this a game we should have won?



Yeah, Fischer just needs to come off the bench. We can't be having nights like this, which seem to happen way too often. If he gets hot give him more minutes otherwise give the minutes to someone else.

Colorado is good, possibly better than Utah this year. Like Utah, they have a very good center. but their guards are much better shooters than Utah's.

I think that game is very winnable if our two senior guards play halfway decent. I know the stats show KC had a good game, but a lot of what he did took our team out of the game. He drove a lot with nowhere to go, took too many ill-advised jumpshots and was a little bit selfish I think. Fisher was just bad. This team would be really good if the seniors consistently played well and showed better leadership.

KC and Fischer are playing very selfishly. There are many times this season that KC has intentionally passed up an open Emery, and instead has taken it into the middle of 3 or 4 defenders, only to chuck up a bad shot, make a bad pass, or turn it over.



Our senior guards need to get over themselves and play on the same team as everyone else.
