How far and wide reaching is this going to get. He is taking his offense coordinator and most of the offensive coaches. Defense is likely going to provide some current BYU coaches as well. UVA just became BYU east.

How many LDS coaches are going to look east where the pay will likely be better and they can recruit players without having to look those players in the eyes and tell them their college experience will include no drinking, no drugs, no women unless you get married, attending church on a frequent basis, living one of the strictest honor codes out there etc etc etc. I'm not saying that BYU should even change anything, but I'd rather not have to deal with it if I'm a coach with a choice.

Did UVA just become the perfect coaching situation if you're a LDS coach. I guess we will see. Wonder if BYU will miss out on some coaches because they choose UVA over BYU.

There will be some immediate ramifications, but Bronco can't load too much up on LDS coaches. He'll get called out on it.

The long term effects depend on Bronc's success. If he's successful there could be a steady stream of LDS coaches going East. They will want to climb the ladder, though, so there will be a boomarang effect and they'll bring their East coast connections back to BYU. If Bronco fails at UVA, well might be a while that a P5 school hires a BYU HC. If Sitake fails and Bronco fails, odds are we see Bronco back coaching BYU.

No way Bronco comes back. Remember? He sails "into the wind." No, he's not coming back to face the overwhelmingly unfair and traitorous malcontents at BYU.

Bronco is going to take his $16mm+ and ride into the sunset. Endure UVA if he must and if it's not working out, Take his golden parachute (I'd bet money he has one just like most P5 coaches) and then be done. Unless of course, BYU gets humbled and desperate and offers him a gaudy amount, which for BYU would be about 2mm. Well, partly kidding. Supposedly the Coaches Circle members offered 1 additional million on top of what BYU "paid him"

But, to the OP, I predicted that some fans would start to feel a bit jilted after all the collateral damages were weighed in. Big time turnover in coaches. Almost unprecedented in BYU history. Wait for the player departures. TH is again playing big-time poker and taking chances. He made two great hires in Bronco and Rose (Hawkwings vote excluded on Rose). will TH rise up again and make a great hire? Or is he stuck with leftovers, not including Anae?

Big coaching haul for Bronco. Wait for the player haul. And The above post is right. Bronco better be careful.he will get labeled as too mormony with too many mormony coaches on his staff and not enought diversity (which means AA) and whose to say the retained DC will align withBroncos values? Who knows if the players will buy into Bronco and all the standards, who knows if Bronco will be able to tolerate the certain misbehaviors and moral misconduct of worldly football players. This isn't the 50's anymore.

Good luck Bronco. Good job leaving town acting like you love BYU. Because I suspect deep in your soul you are still bitter BYU passed over you as a player and then as a HC, preferring Whitt in the first place, and this is your way of getting back at them and not getting over yourself and truly embracing the BYU way for life. After all, why is it that your "mentor" LaVell is surprised you are leaving? Hmmm.

We are certainly losing more than just Bronco, but honestly this is something that most middling schools go through from time to time (and yes we are middling.) The restrictions for BYU coaches make this tougher for BYU than other schools, but we have been very fortunate to not have to go through this very often.
