Darrell Bevell = Out

Pete Carroll informed the media today that Bevell is not available at this time. Basically, if Bevell wants to pursue BYU, he has to quit before he even interviews, and he's not taking that gamble. Carroll spoke directly to Holmoe to tell him Bevell is not available.

If we thought Bevell was that awesome, would waiting until the Seahawks' season is over be worth waiting the extra month over having to just go with Sitake simply because he's "available" now?

With recruiting on-going and BYU's inherent disadvantage in that recruiting game, that extra month could cost an entire recruiting class.

Bevell was never really an option anyway ... did anyone REALLY think we'd be able to match his NFL salary and bonuses? Anyone REALLY think he would be very interested in leaving the NFL (and working with Farve (in the past) and Wilson, etc) to come? OR did we believe the Seahawks wouldn't put up a fight at the thought of losing their OC at this point in the season?



Sadly, he was one of those sweet, enjoyable dreams from which we now must awaken ...

The obvious choice would be to take the job and run with it, so he chose to pass, 1) No one expects it, and 2) what's the worst that can happen anyway?
