Hes poaching coaches. Hes poaching Players. Hes poaching recruits. IT HAPPENS, LEMMINGS!

He announces at UVA today. He's focused on puttting together a staff, hes meeting with players, hes sizing up holes on his team, hes planning recruiting strategies--FOOTBALL IS NOT 5th, BYU fans. Bronco is sleeping with the enemy. Hes in bed right now. Wake up sheepie sheeps.

TH is indulging Bronco for whatever reason, to assuage Bronco's guilt? Maybe. To give Bronco one last chance to beat Utah? MAybe. BC TH wants to leverage whatever remaining loyalty they have to Bronco to try and beat Utah? WHo knows. Not every player is kissing Broncos feet, lemmings. Bronco is in love with another family. his heart, might, mind, and strength is not "fuly engaged'. He is not going to "Rise Up." his "quest for perfection" has shifted to his new family. And the coaches he is taking are also equaly distracted with considerations of moving their families, starting anew, managing offers and contracts, etc, etc.

This is bogus! just leave Bronco. You arent LaVel! You didnt earn Lgacy status. You made your bed. You chose the mighty dollar (cant blame him) but dont be so self-indulgent that you think you are entitled to stay, have one more chance, etc, etc.

Bronco is taking "a large number of coaches" with him.

They are Bronco's coaches, they work for him. Nothing wrong with him taking them with him. Besides, if they were to stay there's no guarantee that the new HC would retain them on staff.

Sure. And all those guys are focused on relocating and new digs and contacts, etc. So much chaos that whatever advantage BYU might have with teh team as is, is vaporized with distractd coaches. NOt to leave out the coaches that arent going are probable freaked about getting another job if the new guy doesnt want them.

The Las Vegas Bowl is in 12 days. Our best chance of beating the Ewetes is with Bronco on the sidelines - no question.



It hurts that Bronco is taking a bunch of BYU coaches with him to UVA...and a good chance that Taysom and may be even JSwagg transfer too...but I have no problem with all of them sticking around for 12 days to give BYU the best chance possible to beat the Ewetes.



BYU plays on the first day of the bowl season. There will still be plenty of time for the replacement staff to get the job done on the recruiting trail. Hopefully boosters open up their wallets. As long as we get a good recruiter and defensive coordinator (Anderson or Sitake) and a good offensive coordinator (Dr. Anae or Bevill) we will be fine, regardless of who the head coach is.



To be honest, a solid situation would be to have Niumatalolo at HC, with Sitake or Anderson at DC, and Dr. Anae at OC. But, I'm not convinced that BYU will allocate the resources to make that happen (and BYU has the resources).

You might be right about short term. i dont like the timing of all this. But regardless, its a big gamble thinking that Bronco is still fully invested and how much counter investment and distraction is necessary to deplete Bronco's ability to a point where he is less effective than someone else? Im not buying that rationale.

Did ANYone really believe our HC could leave and most of the coaching staff would stay? That would be foolish to expect. Each HC deserves to form his own staff and create the program he wants . but we will SERIOUSLY miss some of those guys!

I seriously doubt the number of staff members / players that follow Bronco will be any different based on whether or not he sticks around for the bowl game. However, I do believe if we boot him now, plus anybody else going with him, we would be seriously damaging our chances for a W in the bowl game.

The fact that this game is next week is a huge blessing. We'll get it out of the way early and then get down to business. With Bronco being a rallying point we have a better chance to beat Utah than with someone who is in limbo.

I'm kind of with you on this. I don't know how he can coach and focus the players on the bowl game against the dreaded Utes while he is packing up and moving himself and many of the coaches on staff. I don't think Bronco gets #100 because the players have to feel very unsettled right now, and the coaches do not have their undivided attention on this game. But you know who does...KWhitt. No doubt about it. I'm not sure we win this game, and it pains me to say that because we are obviously the better team. But in college football, it isn't always the better team that wins because all teams have talent. Where the talent level is close, it is the more focused team that wins. So who will be more focused? The team who feels slighted for playing in the bowl but absolutely hates their opponent? Or the team who is not sure who their coaches will be next year? Only time will tell.

Bronco's not in limbo - he's gone. If Bronco cannot coach because he's gone - then any assistants that he's taking with him cannot coach as well - that leaves assistants who may or may not be retained by the next head coach (or, in other words, are in limbo)

I'd rather have a coach that is half focused then no coach at all. It's not great but to kick hi out and all his assistants he's taking leaves us being coached by Tom Holmoe, Mitch Matthews, and Bronson

To say that Bronco is only "half focused" or "not focused" would be an insult and show little knowledge about coaching. Any coach worth his salt, that has integrity, and who is competitive, will focus and try to win the bowl game. Bronco even specified that he won't discuss UVA any further until after the bowl and that all questions should be about the game and his BYU team.

Would we have someone else hired to take Bronco's place by the time the bowl game happens? No, because everyone we would want is going to be busy with their current job until sometime in January, at the earliest. Let's say we did get someone in time for the game. Are they really going to call Bronco's defense? Or are they magically going to drop in a brand-new defensive system in 11 days? No. I'd like to see what the OP's step 2 is after kicking Bronco out the door, because to me it looks like: 1) Kick Bronco out the door, 2) Implode against your rival in a bowl game, 3) Discourage anyone from taking the job because we kick you out the door when we're done with you and implode in bowl games.

That is encouraging then. I'll have a little more hope for a win, but not much. People can claim they will be focused all they want to, but the reality is that we all let distractions keep us from our A game at work from time to time.

I believe Bronco stayed for the bowl game because he knew it's what is best for the program. Come on it's only 15 days from when Bronco announced he was leaving to the bowl game. Yes he might be distracted but he's a professional and he will finish the job he started.There is some serious overreacting going on right now.

NOt overreacting. just aware of precedence that coaches lose focus, in these situations and teams lose focus. How could they not?
