K... BYU needs to curb stomp the Utes into the ground. This needs to be a blowout of epic proportions for BYU.

At least according to Cougarboard and Twitter so far.



Seriously, if Bronco and the players can't get up for THIS - his last game, to get his 100th win, against the Utes...

What's funny is that every other PAC-12 Bowl has been announced, but the LV Bowl is not the last bowl to select. That means the only thing holding up an official announcement is Utah accepting the invitation. Bitter pill to swallow up on the hill--same overall record as BYU = same bowl as BYU....egos are deflating right now.

Don't get me wrong. I'll take a Hail Mary win and I'd love it, but curb stomping them would be so much more satisfying.

Bronco can either leave with a win and get some redemption for his record against the Utes or he can go out as Kyle's whipping boy.



Bronco and the team need to eat, drink, sleep, and breath Utah for the next 2 weeks.

I would love it if it happened but it won't. Kwhit knows how to defend BYU, if BYU wins, it will be a nail biter.

This should be the time where BYU has locker room material about how the Utes would rather play anywhere but Las Vegas. Take it personal so that next time they don't want to play us it's because they're afraid to repeat this game.

I would send the invite back as Utah would be the last team I would I would want to play right now. Dispite not have any offense without Booker you can better bet the Utes will want to send Bronco off will a loss to spoil his going away party.



Having said that Utah losses came against teams that could throw the football and were capable of effectively stopping Booker, Utah's only real offensive threat. this should be an easy win for BYU ordinarily speaking with Booker out from an injury but this game will have more on the line than normal with Bronco leaving.



How much time will Bronco have to spend with the team with all of the BS that going to another team creates is gping to be a big factor.



I agree with Kingcoug this is a must win game and one where BYU needs to win big as well.

I doubt that as they are probably laughing it up as they feel this woould be an easy win. I mean really who was going to invite the Utes with Booker out as any decent team would whip their butts in a bowl game without Booker, but a rivalry game where on coach is leaving and the other team wanting to make a statement to the departing coach makes for a better than normal match up would.

3 reasons:



1- It's the first ever bowl game for BYU vs Utah. No more coaching concerns about over spending of emotional energy that could distract from the rest of the season (season's over).



2- It's Bronco's last BYU game, Bronco's last chance to settle the score with Utah, and his first chance to unleash full fury on the Utes. For the players, it's going to be: "Let's win this for the Gipper."



3- The Utes are deflated. They don't want to even be there, let alone having to give BYU a shot at them. In the past, they fed off the BYU game. It was their consolation for a lackluster season; it was validating to them. Now it's different. Never mind that their feelings of superiority are delusional; the fact remains that they think they are so exceptional that they shouldn't have to play BYU ever again. Even Whit is so bumbed, that he would not acknowledge his bowl opponent in his SLT interview, or make any reference to BYU. All he would say was that they are gratified to "play one more game." Sounds like Bronco's previous "it's just like any other game." How the tables have turned.



So, yeah, the once haughty, now pouting 'tards are going to get curb stomped by a very talented, very motivated bunch of Cougars. :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil:

I sincerely, genuinely hope you are correct. I do not think Utah has an edge in this game. I think it's a tossup. IMHO, the QB edge goes to BYU.



And this game is many times won or lost by the play of the QB. Along with being so excited for Tanner to show his stuff - come on BYU "D." Time to be tough and aggressive.

Boid is right on....as long as the Players at BYU indeed step up for the gipper.

But a few things.

1. We better have our mental edge on Bc utah will pull an Aaron Taylor and try to toy and taunt and trash with BYU to break composure and verify that BYU is the "dirty" tea the whole nation is watching and wanting to confirm or lay aside. Without an edge talent wise nor psyche wise, they will resort to Aaron Taylor like tactics as will their fans. If utah can trash up the game and our star players into fighting or personal fouls, they will take the mental edge.

2. Our WRs better bring more than swagger. They will be harrassed and harangued and press covered just like Michigan and they better bring IT! And not be whiny babies expecting refs to bail them out.

3. Who is the reffing crew??? This is critical.if Pack 12 we are hosed!!!

4. ANAE better bring more than his usual and predictable. Whitt knows exactly what he is doing to stop Anae's troops.

5. Our D will be ready. But Bronco can't rely simply on an all out assault. Utah will be ready to capitalize on over pursuit.

If I'm not mistaken the Utes will also be missing Covey, Gionni Paul, and a couple other starters. Not that the Utes can use that as an excuse since we've been missing our starting QB and RB all year.



But for all the reasons said so far in this thread, the opportunity is as good as it gets for a BYU win. I'm still nervous, considering recent history, but I'm always nervous.
