Open Short Letter To Coach Bronco

Coach, I hope I have the right to call you coach. You have never coached me nor any of my children. I have never met you nor have I ever talked with you. If you ever met me, you wouldn't recognize me. I'm just an older man who has back problems, two ex-wives, and five sons, one who is leaving on a mission on Jan. 13. He's headed to the Colorado Springs, Colorado mission and sadly when he gets off his mission, he wants to go to the U, my hearts is broke. He also swore he wasn't going to go on mission when he graduated high school, so hope springs eternal



I remember when you were hired as head coach for the Lord's football team and I got excited. You inherited a team in chaos, a team in need of a spiritual leader and I prayed and hoped you could turn things around.



I love BYU. I'm an almost alum of BYU. I went there for 4 years, '75 - '79, but didn't graduate from there. I was in the Incomparable Cougar Marching Band while there. I even bought my granddaughters BYU cheerleader outfits, and I even have a BYU Cheerleader Barbie stashed away somewhere. I love BYU.



You have transformed the team into something I am very proud of and that is what is important to me, honor and integrity.



I love you have firesides before the games. I love the community service you do and what the team does.



I love the way the members of the team talk so openly about the outstanding standards and values they hold. I love the way they talk about the awesome plays they make. It's not the individual who made the play, it was the team. They deflect the honor and glory heaped upon them and place it on the team.



I also love the way you go on BYU Sports Nation and give the guys there a bad time. I just have to laugh.



Thank you so much for the 11 years of giving an old man the chance to have another hero in his life.

I feel the same way Thanks Bronco and good luck.

I've been one of his biggest critics but I do wish the guy all the best and hope he has success at Virginia. And I REALLY hope he gets his 100th win in the bowl game.

Amen uronner! I agree whole heartedly.



A couple of things that stood out to me from the pr as conference yesterday



1. I was impressed that there even was a press conference, and the amount of love and respect that Holmoe showed Bronco. I'm glad that he did. Bronco deserves it.



2. Bronco stated that he is what he is today because of BYU. When Holmoe hired him Bronco was a relatively unknown with no experience (BYU took a flyer on him). His experiences at BYU over the last 11 years are what makes him what we all are going to miss.



We aren't going to attract a proven commodity that is going to be Bronco+. Our best hope is that we find a diamond in the rough (like Bronco & Rose) & he becomes what Bronco is now.

I agree. Basically, BYU is going to have to take a big risk at an unknown, OR pony up and pay a proven commodity. How much is Stanford's DC getting paid this year, he doesn't have to deal with HC, doesn't have to deal with (many) missions, and is probably enjoying the california weather a little more than he would in utah.



Good luck BYU, well need it.
