Man, this board is a bunch of sad sacks tonight. haha

2016 looks set but 2017 has 12 games announced and 7 road/neutral games in it. They COULD play 13 because they play at Hawaii--but that would leave them with no bye week.

Then if 2018 includes @ Clemson, that would make 7 road games with 11 games announced. Sounds like Holmoe will have some updates coming up that may shift some games around.

It's a great game if it does get scheduled. But couldn't they play a team like Indiana, Wake Forest, or Vanderbilt. You know a team that's not on the verge of building a national championship team that in 3 years could still be a NC contender.

I don't like it. There are some teams that I am fine doing a 1-n-done with, but Clemson isn't one of them. I put this in the same category as the Oregon game - don't do it

This is like the Boston College rumor for me (which didn't pan out) until there is some evidence that it might happen.

I'm fine with playing Clemson, but we need to stop with the one-and-dones. We need to get big-name teams to Provo. It helps with attendance, it helps with ticket revenues, it helps with recruiting and official visits, it helps with ratings and our own ESPN deal (as opposed to someone else's), and most importantly, it helps our win percentage against such teams.

I would submit that big names don't increase attendance. The year BYU played Texas, Utah, Boise, and GT at home was a down year in home attendance.

I would argue most P5 teams don't deserve a 1 and done or a 2 for 1. I could probably count on one hand the number of teams that should even be considered for that.

BYU has once again found themselves in the top 30 for average attendance...

The 61,225 average is good for 28th in the country, ahead of SEC squads Kentucky and Ole Miss to round out the top 30.



Perhaps even more important, BYU managed to buck a recent trend throughout major college football, and actually increased their attendance from last season...

The year over year increase is very small (only 64 more fans a game), but given the struggles of many other bigger programs, even holding steady is good news.

And if you look at the individual attendance figures for each game, the highest attended games are pretty much the ones you would expect sorted by big name/rival:

Sep 21 - Utah 63,470

Sep 7 - 15/16 Texas 63,197

Oct 25 - Boise State 62,954

Oct 12 - Georgia Tech 60,320

Sep 27 - Middle Tennessee 58,763

Nov 16 - Idaho State 58,645
