Wonder if the Mizzou HC didn't pull an Urban Meyer.

I can't help but wonder if the Mizzou coach didn't pull an Urban Meyer so he could coach somewhere else or maybe so he could leave on his terms as if he knew he would be fired at the end of the season. There is a lot of talk that he did it to unify Mizzou for todays game.



If he does actually have cancer I wish him well, but the timing of his announcement stinks.

It's probable. Anything is fair in love, war, and what a coach does to get his team ready to play - and win. That said ........ it would not surprise me one little bit.

I'm sure he really does have cancer. But, the timing is impeccable. Good cricket?

Like I said the timing stinks and I have my doubts about the cancer after watching him on TV.

You do know that someone can be highly functional WITH cancer, right?



I'm not saying you're wrong, but you can't make a cancer diagnosis based on how someone is moving around on the sidelines.

Pretty bush league to question if he really has cancer. How do you think you should look when battling lymphoma?

Hugely classy act to take a knee at end of game. Crowd booed a little, but figured out how classy it was. Crowd chanted his name at end of game. He sealed his legend status with these fans. I give him credit for his strategic timing to unify this team, fans, and campus and he won my respect by taking a knee on the three when he could have easily scored.

Rumor around the stadium was that his cancer has been known about for some time but just formally announced this week and added the resignation part as well. No doubt a move to unify the team, but if he's going to do it anyway, it was perfect timing and worked out well.

He said it was diagnosed months ago. As to how one should look when fighting lymphoma, it depends on why kind of lymphoma and what stage, what treatments are on-going, etc. Lymphoma killed my Dad in six months, whereas my father-in-law was sick during chemo and looked and acted well otherwise (and is still winning that battle!). Don't judge the man by how he looks this season and how he is acting. I wish him the best in fighting that terrible sickness.

Not judging him at all, and I know cancer patients and their varied presentations. You have me confused with another poster here. Just commenting that his announcement of his cancer and retirement this week was very strategic and it paid off. He was planning to announce it sometime anyway, why not do it now and try to boost his team? I wish him the best, as well as your father in law.
