Rooting Guide Week 11

the rooting guide is focusing on the highest ranking, best bowl opponent in either Hawaii or Vegas and assisting the Big 12 in expansion. Therefore, some of the desired outcomes are slightly different from the NY6 bowl scenario.



The goals for BYU are:



1. To win as many games as possible

2. To achieve the highest ranking possible

3. To play the best bowl team possible

4. To be better than Utah



If you want to see these goals accomplished here is your rooting guide:



A. Cheer for BYU. Duh.



BYU over Missouri



B. Cheer for the team playing Utah. Because there is no reason to cheer for Utah



Arizona over Utah. Bear Down



C. Cheer for BYU’s opponents. This helps SOS which does help our overall ranking



Boise St. over New Mexico

Cincinnati over Tulsa

Fresno St. over Hawaii

Michigan over Indiana

Nebraska over Rutgers

SJSU over Nevada

UCLA over Washington St.

Utah St. over Air Force

Wagner over Central Connecticut



D. Cheer for teams playing teams ranked ahead of BYU. Also, cheer for unranked teams vs. ranked teams. If both teams are ranked cheer for the team with more probable losses in their future (Of course rules A-C trump rule D).



#1 Clemson over Syracuse (We don't want the ACC champ to be replaced by the Big 12 or Pac 12 champ)

#2 Alabama over #17 Mississippi St.

Illinois over #3 Ohio St.

#4 Notre Dame over Wake Forest (In order to keep the Big 12 or Pac 12 out of the playoff, we need Notre Dame in)

Minnesota over #5 Iowa

#12 Oklahoma over #6 Baylor (Just to keep the Big 12 out of the playoff)

Oregon over #7 Stanford

Iowa St. over #8 Oklahoma St.

South Carolina over #11 Florida

Maryland over #13 Michigan St.

Kansas over #15 TCU

NC St. over #16 Florida St.

Purdue over #18 Northwestern

SMU over #20 Navy

South Florida over #22 Temple

#24 Houston over #21 Memphis

Miami over #23 North Carolina



E. Cheer for teams playing teams that could eventually be ranked ahead of BYU (unless it violates rules A-D).



Pitt over Duke

Auburn over Georgia

Western Carolina over Texas A&M



F. Root for the best bowl matchup. We will play a Pac-12 team in Vegas or an AAC team in Hawaii (unless it violates rules A-E)



USC over Colorado

Washington over Arizona St. (Washington has a slightly better chance of winning out.)

Cal over Oregon St.



G. Root for the weakening of the Big 12 to keep them out of the playoff and move them toward expansion (unless it violates rules A-F)



Kansas St. over Texas Tech

West Virginia over Texas



H. It really doesn’t matter



All other games.

Love these. Excellent work. I really hope this weekend has several shakeups in the top 25 and with a solid W over Mizzou, I think we're right back in.

Good news--Wagner picked up their first win of the season against Central Connecticut 28-7. They are now 1-9.

Watching the Utah State game. They only get big plays to Hunter Sharp on offense. Not much else. We better dominate them in the last game of the season.



USU takes a loss in a close game.
