BoiseBYUThis was a devastating weekend, and it all focuses on Texas. First, the bad news. What is with the Longhorns? They've worked so hard and so long to have a Bottom Five season of epic proportions. They've been blown out. They've missed extra points. They've botched punts. And as a result they were 1-4 (we will ignore their win over the Rice Krispies) and all set for an epic run. And then what did they do? They beat their ranked arch rivals Oklahoma and that my friends disqualifies them from any further Bottom Five consideration. But there was some real good news out of Texas. And we will start with the fact that we now have a Governor for the first time make the booth five:
5. TX Governor Greg Abbott. Last night the Astros were up 6-2 in the 8th inning of their game with the Royals. So like any good politician he wanted to get a jump on things and so sent a tweet out in the 8th inning, stating "Congrats to the @astros on advancing to the ALCS! Hoping for an an all-Texas #ALCS. Looking at you @Rangers". Abbott's tweet promptly jinxed the Astros and the KC Royals scored five runs in the eighth inning. They then scored 2 more in the ninth. One again the politicians get involved and buloxed it all up. Way to go Guv!
4. Astros. Choke city. Now they have to go back to KC.
3. Let's go back to the Guv. Acting too hastily is one thing, but jinxing your team takes it to a whole higher level and deserves another listing here too. Way to go Guv!
2. Dallas Cowboys. Lose one QB and one WR and their whole world collapses. We, of course, have no experience dealing with the loss of our star QB, do we?
1. Deflategate. It sure is good we are better monitoring the psi of FBs. It sure has had an impact on the Patriots and Brady, yes?
