MWC v. Pac-10

Now that all of the MWC v. Pac-10 match-ups are complete, let's take a look at how the teams in each conference stack-up:



1. TCU: In my opinion, there is no question that TCU is the best team in both conferences (I also believe they may be the best team in the country). TCU dominated BYU and Utah and is the only team to finish undefeated.



2. BYU: BYU's detonation of Oregon State puts them over Oregon in my book. Say what you will about the wind and the supposed Rose Bowl let down, but Oregon had a very difficult time at home against Oregon State while BYU simply destroyed them.



3t. Oregon: Oregon and Utah end up in a tie. After all, Utah barely lost to Oregon in Autzen; put the teams in SLC or on a neutral field and it's a toss-up in my book.



3t. Utah: See above.



In other words, Oregon would have come in third or fourth in the MWC this year. The problem for the MWC, however, is from this point down. Where does Air Force come in? The Pac-10 may have the next five in a row: Arizona, Oregon State, Stanford, USC, Cal. From there on down, the water is even murkier.

At the vegas bowl, my wife was laughing after the big defensive TD. I was yelling something towards the OS side (not maliciously) and my wife yelled: Pac None!!



She always has sweet surprises. Not like the bad kind utah basketball unleashes, but the good kind that makes you say, oh ya that's nice.

I don't know that you can stick AFA beneath all of those PAC schools. Just because we always play them well and we dominated them doesn't mean you can count them out. They probably should have beaten Utah (as well as several other schools), but look how they played vs TCU. AFA is a gritty program that finds a way to win with what they have and probably would have ripped a couple of those middle-of-the-pack PAC schools, especially since most PAC teams were SO inconsistent this year.



PS--I also think that AFA could hold their own against Boston College, Texas Tech, Rutgers, Wisconsin, and Ole Miss. I'm really not seeing the huge dropoff after our "Big 3" that all of the BCS world is so fond of bringing up...
