So close.



Defense fell apart in the 4th quarter and the offense had to settle for field goals. We played 'em tight and had every chance to win.



Will be a fun season, but no running the table this year.

"So close" makes it all the more painful. People won't care that we led most of the way or that UCLA won by 1 point. We'll be lucky to still be in the Top 25 tomorrow. Not that it matters. To the Whatever Bowl is right. 11-1 just isn't good enough.



Absolutely no excuse for allowing 14 points in the 4th. NONE! Questionable clock management by Bronco. Questionable play calling by Anae down the stretch. 12-1 would certainly be a step forward but I'll believe it when I see it.



The only positive that I can see is the continued game experience Mangum is getting. He has the potential to be truly legendary. But he and the team still need more consistency from the coaches. 1 or 2 "magical" wins? That's great and all but so what?

This is why they need to get into a conference. Independence sucks!

If our only loss on the season ends up vs an undefeated UCLA, I don't care what bowl we end up in; it will be a good year for BYU football.

It would be. Maybe New Years Day worthy. I doubt UCLA makes it out of the PAC 12 unbeaten though.

Undefeated?

Undefeated is an unreal expectation. 11-1 or 10-2 would be a GREAT season! Then go out and win the bowl game, how could anyone not be happy with that?

Don't worry about a bowl game in week 3. Enjoy the ride. The team is getting better game to game. I'm very encouraged by the running game emerging tonight. Looking forward to week 4 @ Michigan.

I think many of you r just upset and not thinking clearly. BYU is not gonna be unranked tomm 1 point road lost to a top 10 will not drop u to unranked. Second, BYU still has an amazing chance to go to a great bowl game. Cmon guys look at the bigger picture here.

Wow, I just assumed everyone would have known I was talking about one of the big 5 conferences not the MWC. So let me clarify for those who can't figure the obvious out. BYU needs to get into one of the big 5 conferences, independence SUCKS!

No disrespect to UCLA but this UCLA team will not go undefeated. BYU's defense exposed weaknesses in their passing game big time. They are going to lose some games this year because of that.

BYU shouldn't be punished by the voters for this loss but if history is an indicator, they will be. I have a feeling we will drop a few spots, and maybe out of the top 25. UCLA will move up 3 or 4 spots for the 1 point win. It won't matter though, BYU has a really good team this year with a Freshman QB who doesn't look like one at all. We are going to win a bunch more games and maybe all the rest of them. This is going to be a really fun year. Keep your heads up!

Even if we're still ranked Sunday, and manage to be ranked at the end of the season, so what?



Don't get me wrong, that's great and all but we have already been ranked in the Top 25 five times under Bronco. Maybe some of you are just peachy and content with that but I'm not. To think that a perfect season is unrealistic is gutless, loser talk in my opinion. Things do have to fall into place in a given year but it is within our reach. Bronco and Anae have to get out of their own - and the team's - way.



Big picture? I'm content if this wasn't our perfect season. But we have a guy at QB who could get us there provided Bronco & Co put him in a position to do so. Continual 10-3/11-2 seasons and Top 25 finishes are better than 8-5 but is ultimately treading water and, in a sense, a failure in my book.

Man, why didn't anyone else think of that? You're a genius! Let's just go join one of the P5 conferences! All teams should do that, it's so simple! And yes, it sure does suck playing big name teams all over the country and getting national coverage like never before -- it's the worst!

Double post

Nobody here became a BYU fan because of the great bowl games they have played in.



That being said we are still in the hunt for a NY6 bowl.



Even if we don't get there a 11-2 or 10-3 season would be excellent given who we will play and out talent level.

10-3, 11-2 this year with the adversity that the team has had to overcome would be a phenomenal year and maybe Bronco's best coaching job ever. We have a tougher schedule than we have ever had. We lost our 2 best players on offense and our starting nose guard before the season really even got started. The future is brighter than it has ever been with Tanner Mangum at QB. No reason to be a stormy cloud right now.
