4. The refs had some good calls and some bad ones. The worst: not sure but one not mentioned is the 11 yard spot on fourth and ten for OSU when the dude caught the ball and was tackled after a nine yard gain....



3. First two plays of the game for BYU--two five yard losses for harvey--a rather inauspicious start but after that how sweet it was!



Number 2 and 1--That clip of the Rogers brothers in leotards climbing the poles. What the heck?!? They just dropped three rounds in the draft I think....

Thats not the only place they dropped! Wait for the posters and signs next year when they play the other pac-0 teams next year.

I am still wondering about the call just before halftime. Ref's video replay confirmed the call that time had expired, yet the ESPN replay clearly showed 3 seconds left? Was the game clock wrong or what?

Jacobsen was running backwards when he went out of bounds. That means the ball stopped at the point of his forward progress, which was in bounds, so the clock didn't stop when he went out of bounds.



If you want to stop the clock by going out of bounds, you have to do it moving forward. It sounds like a lame rule, but it is there because in the early days players who got tangled up before they got to the sideline would simply "lateral" the ball to the sideline, stopping the clock. Keeps the game a little purer.

Okay, makes sense. I heard the announcers (over my kids screaming) giving some explanation, but by the time I got things quieted down all I heard was "...so that's the right call."

The question then is why weren't BYU coaches and players signaling for a timeout. Regardless of the direction of Jacobson's travel, BYU should have been calling for a timeout to get the FG unit out. They had one to burn. About the only thing BYU coaches did poorly last night.

Hard to feel bad at all about the game. And I certainly to want to appear as a complainer, But sometime in the second quarter, before the game was in the bag, I thought BYU coaches missed something pretty important.



I thought I saw (and I'll go watch the game a couple of time tonight) an OSU reciever clearly step out of bounds as he was catching a pass - a play that went for over 15 yards and looked like it could have given OSU some momentum. In the end OSU did not score and all is well that ends well, but was I the only one screaming at somebody to get the officials to review that call?

The back-to-back Harvey 5 yard losses were on the 2nd drive, not the first. The first drive started with an incomplete pass to MJ down the BYU sideline on 1st, a draw to Harvey for little or no gain on 2nd and an incomplete pass to JJ on a wheel route down the OSU sideline. Sorry to nitpick. Otherwise a great list!

BYU had already burned their 3rd timeout earlier in the drive. When the ref signaled that timeout, you can hear him say "their third and final timeout." ESPN just never took the third timeout off of the graphic.
