Scott Huntsman on 2 deep

Can anyone ever remember a freshman walk-on making the 2-deep out of fall camp like Scott Huntsman? If we didn't have some decent talent at LB I'd see it, but pretty impressive player to rise that quickly.

This is unpossible. Bronco doesn't play freshmen. He only plays untalented seniors who are holding better and younger players back.

The reason he actually made it on the 2 deep is BECAUSE he is an un talented walk on. Bronco will always play walk ons instead of more talented players because he likes to hold back his 4 star recruits in order to play less talented walk ons.

Oh you guys are starting to sound like CB.

;)

It's just a shame we cannot have the influence we had on Scott on some of the other LDS recruits we want. We're never going to be perfect in finding all of the right fits for BYU, but it now seems obvious with the P5 offers he had and his performance in fall camp that he was someone that "should" have been on our radar.

It's just fun when you see a talented young man/woman that gets why BYU would be a great option for them.

I really thought, because of the reports coming out of camp, that he may have played himself into one of those scholarships. He must come from a financially secure family.

I see Huntsman landing a scholarship after he returns from a mission (I've read he has plans).

Jordan Pendleton isn't surprised by this as he trained him while he was in Utah during the summer. He not only helped him with the physicality (S&C) aspect of his game but on the mental focus. JP thought that he would have been more effective as a freshmen and sophomore had he understood the defensive scheme and understood his position alignment. He taught Scott the nuances of his position which helped lessen the learning curve. Scott has the size and speed to be great - even better if he more prepared to understand the concepts. JP believes he will be the next KVN based upon his progress to date.

Can we just get all of the recruits come up during the summer and work with former athletes that played their position? Seems like a good idea, but I'm not sure how it falls under NCAA guidelines.

Jordan Pendleton is running a training business where he trains athletes at all levels and tries to make them better at their sport. It is not a violation for him to do this.

Well his father sent him to train with Pendleton and some other trainer, so I would imagine he must be secure. Didn't seem to bat an eye at going to BYU on his own dime either.

Let's not forget, for LDS, BYU is by far the least expensive private university in the country. But yeah, trainers aren't cheap.

Did he play? Where can you find the box score?

His family happened to sit on our row. He played a bit. 10-15 plays. No big plays / no screw ups.
