Charles West Update from the Monty Show on 1320 (?)

It's too bad these kids make stupid decisions. Kids are kids though. Now he will have to find somewhere else to go to school and it is a very late hour for that.

When I was in HS football players didn't have to pay for it. Sad times we live in.

I'm not sure calling a prostitute and pay for services rendered and not paying for your weed is simply a matter of a kid being a kid.

My guess is a junior college for a year and then CSU.

Yeah, Monty's level of verification of information before reporting it seems pretty iffy. He was throwing out that Exum has a torn ACL--when everyone else is just reporting that initial indications are it may be and the Jazz are waiting for verification when he returns to SLC.

Now he is saying West will plead to a sexual charge--even though police do not believe an assault took place and the accuser is not cooperating. And that the gunshot was over an unpaid weed deal which has resulted in him being out at BYU.

What he is saying may eventually end up being the case--but I'm not sure of some of the details. Unless he is equating a plea to something like soliciting a prostitute as a "sexual charge", I'm not sure why he would plead guilty--since it doesn't sound like that is what happened. And he may end up not going to BYU because the shooting over weed debts would be another strike. But it feels a lot like reporting rumors as if it is known fact.

1280 has been teasing about some "big BYU news" but nothing ended up being said on DJ & PK and they ended saying that they were still "working" the story. Also, nothing yet from Jake & Tony either. If it is this story, they probably won't say it without some kind of verification that it is true--and maybe they can't really produce that.

Sounds like CW could have really benefited from the "BYU experience". Best of luck to him, hope he gets his issues sorted out eventually. I'm sure he'll look back on this whole process with regret in the future.

I'd be surprised if Monty jumped the gun. The best thing to happen to him was Socky G's allegations and he actively mocked 1280 over that. I'd guess that's why 1280 is holding back as well as they looked like complete morons after they went all in on that story.

The prep school thing already fell through. He is still planning on coming to BYU in January though or next year.

Is this a KVN-style "I know I need to be at BYU" situation? With the severity of the situation and his legal challenges, what's driving him to Provo?

Really hope this story ends similar to KVN's. Sounds like he could really benefit from the BYU "experience".

I still fail to see why CW couldn't attend BYU. Do what he needs to so he can get in good standings and come to BYU. If he's willing to change, and it sounds like he is, then why not. He'll obviously need to keep abidng by the HC, but the idea of some past infractions forever keeping him from gracing BYU seems over the top and absolutely contrary to the gospel of Jesus Christ.



I sincerely hope he attends. Won't be easy for him. But I would rather my tithing money go towards a guy like CW than someone who's life is pretty much going to be the same regardless of which college they attend.

The last thing Bronco needs is a guy who may make his program look bad and draw unwanted criticism. Agree, I don't think it's a matter of yesterday you were able to do what you want but starting today you have to start keeping the HC. But I still think there is room to work with the guy and get him at BYU, assuming he wants to come here and will keep the HC.

The fact that it happens at BYU is exactly the reason to be concerned if someone is establishing a pattern of behavior prior to attending the university.

Frankly, KVN had a worse infraction before he enrolled at BYU then Charles west (Driving drunk). I hope the kid gets in good standing and gets to BYU and has a career similar to KVN's. It would be a great story and one that we would all remember positively. KVN to his credit made the changes necessary to make it at BYU. I hope the best for this kid, he deserves to be in the BYU environment to get his life in order.
