Seriously? No Middle Tenn. St./Southern Miss. Thread?

So unless my cougarcorner is being weird and not displaying the most recent messages (which it has been known to do time to time), there hasn't been a single post on this game! (other than my own pointing out in the bowl mania thread that I had picked Middle Tennessee State!)



Once again, this was one heck of a bowl game.

And I can't help but point out that thus far - of the three bowl games - the only boring and non-entertaining game has been the one with a BCS team (Rutgers-UCF)



If one thing has stood out to be so far it has been the strength of the QB's on some of these teams (Namely Wyoming, and Middle Tennessee... that Dasher is quite something to see, and I'm not even referring to the reindeer!)

After Southern Miss went up 14-0 in the first quarter, I began thinking that my bowl pick'em was just about destroyed... but this brings me hope! And isn't that what Christmas is all about, really? Hope?

Well it looks like you have started one! I was thinking about what Middle Tenn St. did with their offense. Could Riley be similar with juice and Unga or Diluigi at running back. Dasher was pretty impressive and I only saw the last quarter of the game. Throw in another great TE and we got quite an offense.



I was also thinking that the Y could use 2 QB's next year. Nelson with running to get us in the red zone and then Heaps to get the TD's. Might work.

The two biggest reasons I don't see Nelson being the guy is that he's not as good a passer as Heaps and we don't have the kind of linemen necessary to run the read option over and over. We've got big, strong, slowish linemen designed to create and protect a pocket, not smaller, quicker linemen that get out and block. I like Nelson as a change of pace guy, but he's not a BYU type QB.
