Southern Miss series moving....again

Southern Miss has completed their 2016 non-conference schedule with the addition of Kentucky. The Golden Eagles are also set to host Austin Peay on Sept. 10 and Troy on Sept. 17 and travel to LSU on Oct. 15.



USM was previously slated to play at BYU Nov. 19, 2016, but that game will be moved to another season per Golden Eagles athletic director Bill McGillis.



That leaves 2 more home games TBA for 2016.

Home (4): UCLA, Mississippi State, Utah State, UMass

Road (4): Utah, Michigan State, Boise State, Cincinnati

Neutral (2): Arizona, West Virginia

Why don't they cancel that series unless it was one home game.

So, we'll probably have an FCS opponent and one other. Hopefully the FCS team in SUU or Weber St. FWIW, Boston College and Miami have room for a 2016 road game.



Home schedule with UCLA, MSU, USU, Umass, FCS, and BC/Miami would be pretty legit. We don't have any easy road/neutral games in 2016.



Also - kind of weird to have two neutral-site games in one season.

In the SEC, Kentucky, Missouri, Florida, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Alabama(!) could use another OCC game and could hit the road. Plenty of openings in 2017-2019 for return game. We already have Missouri on the 2020 schedule, so they are doubtful. Texas A&M needs another OOC game and has no OOC road games scheduled...



Someone on Cougarboard suggested that Auburn is going to drop their November 2016 game against FCS Alabama A&M and add a HHN series with BYU, with the first game in Provo in November 2016. Series to be announced at BYU Media Day. That would be amazing, but....
