Commit updates: Masina commits to USC

I know he didn't have BYU in his top 3 but Brighton HS's Osa Masina officially announced today that he is picking USC.

Good luck to him. Hope he enjoys living in a terrible neighborhood.

Then he'll take a short walk to 28th street and feel just fine about where he lives.

Then he'll attend for two years and transfer to BYU.

He was never going to come here. He was likely never going to Utah. He stated pretty early he was leaving the state.

My older brother got his 4 yr degree from USC. He was robbed, at gunpoint, 3x walking from the parking lot to class before he graduated. USC is plopped in the middle of a cesspool. Good luck.

Hard to understand any inference of BYU losing some of these recruits when they weren't strongly considering BYU in the first place. Evidence of why it is important to secure recruits that are good fits can be seen with Leavitt and Kearsley transfer to USU and OSU.

I only mention these guys because BYU did make offers to them. Not to indicate that BYU screwed it up somehow. Just that the kid finally made a decision.

I have to question the sincerity of anyone saying after the fact that they chose a school based on a conference as that's easy to say after you have selected your school and you're trying to pump them up. However, how does Utah recruit without an OC or DC? It seems more and more to be pointing to in-house promotions and Kwitt just won't announce it until after signing day but a new coordinator can blow up their entire side of a coaching staff.



The party line is still walking the line that Kwitt's too busy recruiting to discuss it but the U wasn't too busy to announce the hiring of a former BYU player as a recruiter last week.

He would have been a teammate of a Whittingham it looks like. It sucks that all of those players who have athletic kids coming up have more ties to Utah right now than BYU. That teams getting old enough at this point that I'd guess most of their kids are past high school.

Oh man... I'm getting tired of all these BYU guys going there. In the end it's a job and they need to support their families but it still sucks.

Wow. Britain Covey. BYu can't even land him? What is Utah promising? At this point, Utah has to create big noise as the wheels were getting pretty wobbly. But Timpview product and should be sure fire recruit to BYU and we lose him to Utah? My how Whitt has turned the world. The wheels now seem pretty wobbly at BYU. I know this is just one kid, but it's not like he was getting recruited by Stanford or USC. THis is much bigger of a miss than just missing on his limited skill set at the college level. Maybe Utah promised he would get a sniff at running-man qb at Utah. Or maybe the wheels are wobbly and word on the street are that things aren't so good at BYU? Anae rigid and cranky? Bronco Twilighting? What?

As for Alema F, that's all about PAC 12 money. I'm sure they have much more money to pay him than BYU? Too bad.

I'm hardly concerned about losing a kid who will likely struggle to see the field, from a family of backups.

utah already has log jam at signal caller. He will play slot receiver most likely.
