Not sure where Monson is getting this, but he went to press with a pretty big rumor here.

I actually think this is scary. Kwhitt was a mediocre head coach who was able to beat BYU more often than not. Utes could do much better than whitt.

No doubt Utah has a better pool of coaches to pull from now that they're in the Pac-12. The question is: does he move "down south?" Could Cougar fans accept him? Not sure it would work with both Bronco and Whittingham on staff, so I don't see it happening this year--but...

Yeah, that would be an "end of the world" scenario. I think Cougar Nation would have an aneurysm if that happened.

That's because whit had the ability to get utah up for BYU when they played. They usually over performed against BYU.

As much as I resent whit for how classless he has been towards BYU since turning down the BYU job after Crowton was fired I would embrace him with open arms if he came to be the Dcoordinator. The guy can flat out coach a defense. The problem is, he and Bronco HATE each other. it would never work in a million years. And is a non scenario because Broco and whit HATE each other so much, there is now way an offer would ever be extended to whit and there is no way whit would ever accept an offer if by some miracle it was extended.

Monson sure knows how to write an article that generates plenty of hits from both fan bases. Whitt and Bronco on the same staff is a pipedream.



If Whittingham quits, I'd expect him to spend the next season as a talking head for ESPN, Fox1, or the PAC12 Network while he bides his time for a new gig at the end of 2015. However, if Whittingham is out there on the market, expect Bronco's leash to get a bit shorter next season.

If you are insinuating that BYU would fire Bronco to hire whit, I don't believe it. whit would never be able to successfully coach BYU under the current honor code/recruiting restrictions we are operating under.

The day BYU football hires Whitt is the day I become a basketball fan. I would be apathetic about BYU football if we hired that classless turd.

This rumor has been going around for a couple of days. Apparently Hill and Witt are fighting. Most of the rumors don't make any sense. That's why I haven't past anything along. Maybe Witt is trying to get a better deal from Utah. Will have to just wait and see on it. In any case their team and recruiting class is in turmoil.

I really could care less whether Whit ended up at BYU or not he would be a good defensive coordinator.I have nothing against him. He was very good at getting his team up to play us and I think he could do the same here.If however somehow Bronco is forced out so that he could be the head coach that would absolutely end my being a BYU fan Bronco deserves better and I like him and if Bronco were to get chased away that would be the end for me.If Bronco moved on and got a better job or left because he was tired that is a different story.Chase him away and replace him with Whit. I am done.

I would welcome Whitt as HC. Sure, he's been a dbag sometimes, but so has Bronco (to the fans, and some players). Neither guy is perfect, and he has a good program set up. I think he would know how to maximize our talent. I am a BYU football fan, not a fan of the head coach position. I'd take Whitt over Anae or Howell a billion times, but I am sure there are other options they are looking at too.

I don't care where Kyle goes right now; all I care is that he makes as big a stink as possible on the way out. I want to see their recruiting go down in fiery flames, I want him to out Chris Hill on some dirt and I want their coaching search to take 4 months.



I doubt Bronco and Kyle could coexist, but if Kyle on our staff meant Utah would fall apart and Kyle would nab Covey, Reid, Hunt, and others for us, I would be game for it. I don't think a Kwhitt could possibly be worse than a Nick Howell.

Yes and no.



Facer says that the reports that Kyle is being forced out are false. No where in Facer's article does he or his sources say that Kyle isn't leaving.



I don't know what's going on. I think Whittingham isn't happy that Dr. Hill basically bet against him and his staff last off-season. I think Dr. Hill thought Utah was going to be like most of us here thought - and that was a 4-8 or 5-7 team.



I think that's why so many of the assistant coaches weren't offered extensions. I don't think Dr. Hill thought Utah would win nine games this year and he thought he would be looking for an entirely new coaching staff.



I don't know if Whittingham will leave or not. But Monson does like to stir the pot to get page views and attention, but his article was more than just pot stirring. That was a really big gamble/rumor to put out there on just a whim or an attempt to get some attention/page clicks.

And become what at BYU? The defensive Coordinator? I can't see Kyle W. resigning from a HC position, and taking a job as a Defensive Coord. Anything is possible. I just don't see it.



I do see K-Whit moving laterally to be a HC at another school - to fill out his resume - or for a pay raise.

Actually, K-Whitt is a good guy. We were in the same Ward in Provo, and we were neighbors. I knew his 'Dad (Fred) pretty well. If Kyle did come to BYU in any capacity, he would do a good job. He is tenacious like a junk-yard dog.
