Lies we tell ourselves as BYU fans

Hopefully I am not the only one who posts on this topic. What I'm putting it here for is to bring up things we say to ourselves, on this board (or other boards), or to our fellow BYU fans or fans of other teams.



The first lie I'd like to start with is:



If Kilani Sitake were at BYU, we'd re-open the poly pipeline.



This is a lie for many reasons. Below are a few:



1) We have a significant number of Polynesian players on out team.



2) Other schools are recruiting Polynesian players at a higher rate than ever before, especially on the west coast.



3) We have at least 3 Poly coaches on staff right now. Will one more really make the difference?



4) If the Poly pipeline is broken (which it's not), it's been broken for almost 20 years. Ron McBride, without a lot of Poly's on staff initially, started getting them at Utah against LaVell Edwards, including switching the Kaufusi family for half a generation.



There are a ton of others, but I want your favorites and reasons why you think they're lies.

Everybody with at least one neuron firing away in their skull wants us in their conference because we have an awesome nationwide fanbase.

Agreed. It's obvious none of the big conferences want us, or have wanted us up to this point. This will continue until they need us; either to be more competitive with more teams in the conference, to be able to host a championship game, or if we ever became such a powerhouse that they would all want us (ie, we were consistently breaking into the football playoffs, winning national championships and/or developing a fan base that made it financially undeniable that a conference would make money just having us as a draw in their conference - Notre Dame has that, if they don't lose it)

If Bronco were a more personable and better recruiter/closer every 4-5 star LDS football player would come to BYU. I mean what 17-18 year old kid would want to disappoint 15 million members of his church? ;)

* Dave Rose gets a 'pass' with fans because he doesn't call us out. But Bronco is a jerk because he tells it like he sees it regarding fans.



* Bronco doesn't have signature wins. Dave does. I'd love to see a list of games Rose was favored to win and lost and vice versa and a similar list with Bronco.

Power conferences will add teams based on new years day bowls and undefeated seasons.

All football games after the first loss of a year are meaningless

How about BYU plays their CB's 15 yards off the ball on 3rd and 1?



a-on most occasions it's generally about 8 until right at the snap of the ball

b-They move up significantly on 3rd and short.

BYU has the talent to go undefeated every year and it is the coaches fault that we have only done it once in 100 years at BYU.

Polls are rigged against us...



SEC really isn't very good...



That aught to stir someone's pot! ;)

Anae is a fool for calling running plays up the middle.



Utah fans hate the church



BYU fans are self righteous slugs



Pro football is so business oriented. Thank goodness college ball is different



There are multiple people who could step right in today and win ten games a year without raising a sweat.

BYU loses games because football is 5th on Bronco's priority list.

An incoming Freshman would outplay an upperclassmen, if only the coaches would put him in.

BYU athletic programs would be better off without an Honor Code.

BYU is the reason they're not in the Big XII and they have control over getting an invite.
