CSU coach going to Florida?

There is a hangup on the $7.5 buyout clause. If he goes that will hurt CSU.

As a gator fan (second to BYU, of course), I would welcome McElwain. It seems Florida only does well with offensive minded coaches (Spurrier, Meyer), though a size sample of four is probably too small to say. Defensive minded coaches (Zook, Muschamp) have not done as well there. I'm not sure why that is. It could be that those particular defensive coaches were unable to recognize offensive coaching talent. On the other hand, it could be that the Florida athlete, where they get most of their recruits in state, is better built for the offensive side of the ball (speed, speed, speed), but defensive coaches put first priority on the defense. Speed is important on defense as well, but I see it as a nice to have, not essential to play great defense. I'm not sure what it is, but I welcome another offensive coach at Florida.



And I love the defensive coaches we have had at BYU (LaVell and Bronco).

Not a bad deal. $3.5 Million a year, buyout reduced to $5 Million to Florida with Colorado State getting a game at Florida (guaranteed $2 Million of the five, McElwain has to pay another $2 Million dollars over six years). Now I hope he produces. Its no fun living in SEC country without Florida being one of the powers.
