Firable offense. Nothing worse since 3 runs up the middle vs Utah: the backward pass at the one yard line. Anae is not the guy!!!

Yeah. Clearly a triple option play on the goal line poorly executed. 2 of the 3 options are solid. Sorry, that one's not on Anae.

1) STUPID play call (that on is on Anae)

2) BUT it COULD have worked if CS had kept the ball (that is on CS)



Lousy call ... executed even worse. Glad they overcame that one.

Yeah, I hate to see an OC call a play that results in a touchdown if the players make the right reads.

Sure, Sno. BUT, that play had been called 3 times earlier in the game with no success. So we are going to trick them? I think that is counting on dumb luck to save you ... in this case it hurt us.

that same play has scored TD's for BYU multiple times this season. This time it was executed poorly. The good news is; BYU fought back and won anyway.

At least the call wasn't a run up the middle.

If Stewart would have handed the ball off for the run up the middle, it would have scored. He said in the post game that his eyes were down because of a low snap and kept the ball when he should have handed it off.

He also mentioned when he came to the sideline he was completely out of it and that it was Coach Anae and Coach Beck who were able to get him refocused and moving forward.

If you're C-Stew, just lower your shoulder and go. Even if it's a no-gainer, YOU'VE GOT 2ND & GOAL FROM THE 1! Totally on the QB (and I'll forgive Lasike since he's really a rugby player, but jump on that ball!)

Agreed, that play was all on Stewart. He played really well, but also had some boneheaded mistakes. Good news is the good outweighed the bad in this game. He was the difference in the win.

REALLY happy his knee was on the ground before that INT left his hand.

Yep, I think if that play would have stood, it would have been the game. I don't think BYU recovers from that one.

Air Force calls that play 60 times a game. It works fine if the correct read is made.



Rarely would a lateral pass at the goal line be the right read.

Taysom executed it quite well and it still worked less often than it did. But in that context it was inexcusable. It was totally read by the D and so close to the end zone and not open space, was ill-fated and Ill-advised.

Ironically Cal called the same play and it sucked eggs as well.

I think I'd rather see this play then the corner fade route we typically try on 1st down when we get close. When was the last time you had any confidence in that play? Max Hall maybe?



Lasike has to know that he needs to jump on that ball. He didn't start playing football last week.
