My thoughts

Obviously we would like to see the offense put up a 40 spot on a team like MTSU but they didn't. This offense is what it is without taysom hill and Jamaal Williams. This game was won by the defense. MTSU actually has a pretty good offense and the defense shut them off. I had read tweets last week that put the MTSU offense in the top 30 in the country with a good passing game. The defense doing what it did is encouraging. If they can improve against the next to doormats we are going to play I might give them a better than average chance in the CAL game.

Agree. Defense played well tonight. Not sure why the offense sputtered in the first half.

Good game, but doesn't really leave me feeling much better about the team. This was a below average MTSU team who struggles to throw the ball going against a defense that, as long as you aren't gashing them for long passes, excels at stopping the run.



I view this game as stopping the blood loss, but BYU still has lots of damage to internal organs that needs to get sorted out, and we won't know if that happened until they play some bigger tests. Sad to say, UNLV might be a test for this BYU team--that acknowledgement alone is an ugly reminder about how bad this season has turned.

MTSU may be a middle of the road CUSA team, but this was still their first home loss and BYU only let them score 7 while shutting them out in the second half.



Nevada was a middling MWC team and the outcome was so much different.
