Brandon Davies started for the Sixers in their first preseason game last night. Didn't have a great game, but played 21 minutes in the starting role.



3 points on 1-3 shooting (1-1 from 3), 4 boards, 3 assists, but had 5 fouls and 4 TOs.

First regular-season game:



5-11 shooting for 12 points, 5 boards, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 turnover and the only bench player in the positive of the +/- in 18 minutes of play. Not bad for someone who, according to some, would never make a team.

Indeed. Actually a really good game for Davies. If he turns in numbers like that every night he's going to be pushing for starting minutes.

Also -1 in differential, which is one of the lowest on the team. Actually the 2nd unit as a whole killed the first team in differential. So either Miami starters are that good, or Phila starters stink. Maybe some of both.

Indeed, especially on 7-9 shooting. And yes, his -1 was the second best on the team, a real solid performance.

STARTED vs. the Rockets and played pretty well:

Davies is becoming quite the NBA player, I'm very impressed.

Almost makes you wish Jimmer were playing for an intentionally awful team.

Started again tonight and scored a career-high 20 points on 9-11 shooting.

He is doing some good things got the league pass and I have been watching him.

Waived a day before his contract became guaranteed, but saves the Nets ~$5MM between the salary they won't have to pay Davies over the next three years (~$3MM) and saves them an additional ~$2MM against this year's salary cap.



Have to hope Brandon saw this coming with the Nets' cap situation and where his playing time was headed.

He knew it. I read about it when he got traded. Maybe the 76ers will pick him up now.

I'm surprised he left for Europe so quickly. Must have been close to zero interest in the NBA given that he waited less than a week. Also of note--now that he's going to Eurohoops, he's now a 'center' again.
