By The Numbers: Can Nick Howell lead the BYU defense?

Now that we have two losses, let Howell continue to run the D and get the growing pains over with.

People who thought Nick Howell was going to step into the DC spot as a first time ever DC without any let-down or miscues from a Bronco as DC defense are/were delusional.



People who think Bronco is even considering demoting or firing Nick Howell after some let-downs and misfires 6 games into his DC career are likewise delusional.



This was to be expected, and Bronco's going to let him grow on the job now, especially with the fact that anything other than the Florida Bowl is out of the question at this point.

I agree with that article.

Of course there would be growing pains. Sno might ask if the writer came to a conclusion and then looked for data to support it, however. Why was 2012 omitted, for example.



In any event, was this really the right year to take on a DC learning curve in an all or nothing way? This was the first time in a long time that we have a decent offense to go with a reloading defense and a special season schedule. Maybe hire an experienced DC?



But, our rookie DC is not Jaime Hill bad.



I would like to see a Spiff type comparison of how the D in 2012 and 2013 VA opponents averages compares to 2014, before I accept that he is about like a typical Bronco defense. He is losing that battle this year. Did Bronco?
