Fun To Blame The Wrong Guys, But, AFTER FURTHER REVIEW

AFR, is a great show. I DVR every episode so I can watch it after every game, even if I have traveled to the game and have to watch it later. They usually touch on almost all of the hot topics.



And usually, the most vocal and hyperbolic fans blinded by their own emotions and biases, blame the wrong guy.



I am always surprised that it does not get more discussion on here. For example, a better pass rush would never hurt, but the main problems were defensive backs making simple errors like looking back at the QB instead of keeping them on the receiver, covering the wrong shoulder, swiping at the ball with the wrong hand, taking the wrong angle, opening the door by opening their hips, etc. Linebacker biting when the QB looked him off and leaving his zone, opened up the slant for a TD. DC made the right calls, just bad execution. The probable TD pass to Leslie that he tipped up for the interception was tipped before it got to him. It was still catchable, but he did not focus entirely on the ball instead of the db, and did not secure it. On another interception, Stew had great pocket protection with 3 rushing and 8 in coverage, but stepped out of that pocket into 1 of the pass rushers, instead of stepping up in the pocket. He got hit as he threw to the correct receiver, but the ball was off target. The OL has been wrongly blamed.



Anyway. Great show. Highly recommend it for truths eek erstwhile who value facts and data over hyperbole, bias against coaches and players, and emotion.



I know. Venting is fun and therapeutic, but even more fun when the vents are pointed in the right direction.



I really enjoyed hearing the back-up to Bosco tell the story of Holmgren coming up to him, grabbing his jersey to get right in his face, and settling him down by saying, Norm and I h Ave got your back, we know your strengths, we are going to call plays that will make you successful, now get in there. Then the OL, anchored by Robert Anae and other greats, told him nobody would be able to even touch him. The first five calls were then pass plays, and after he got roughed up a bit on one of them, he said hey guys to the OL, and Anae said, my bad, it will not happen again.

The DB you were referring to that made all of those mistakes was Rob Daniel. Dude is not playing assignment sound football. IMO, he should be on a 2 inch leash, if he blows even 1 more assignment in the next game he needs to be benched for someone who will play assignment sound. I couldn't care less who that DB is.

So the correct answer as far as coaching goes is the Secondary Coach, aka Nick Howell who should be teaching those aspects of the position.

I love this show as well, but I thought it was kind of ironic. After BYU laid an egg on the field against USU, AFR laid an egg with the broadcast of the show covering that game. I watched the recording last night and they played the same segment 3 times the last 20 mins of the show.



I guess when things start to go bad, the wheels fall off of everything.

True true, but let us not forget that the biggest burn and blown assignment of the night was Jordan Preator, whom I really like, but he did get beat the worst.

I'd say the biggest brain fart was Jordan Johnson running into the backfield before the snap on a field goal. Seriously? What, did the holder hard-count you?

I wonder if having scouts from the Seahawks, Rams, etc. are influencing Rob Daniel and he's trying to make the big play instead of the safe and right play to wow the scouts.

Plus Johnson being out of position on the fade to the end zone on I believe it was the next possession. The DB's had a horrid showing last week.

I had wondered why it seemed to rewind or start over on its own. That was wierd. Makes me wonder if that was just added to the end or if it was instead of what was supposed to be there.

Rob is the worst because he made so many assignment errors, but there were others, including Preator, a line backer, and a safety.

No I think it was actually an editing error. They filmed the show and then in production they added in the commercial breaks and just dropped the wrong segments in after the last two breaks.
