This was the perfect set up for a big run. It's too bad the defense sucks and Bronco is not HC material. I was hoping they could at least fake their way in to a big bowl and keep it close for a while. Instead BYU will get beat in the Miami bowl by a patsy team from nowhere.

yep. I watched the UCLA v Yewt game. I was shocked how good Yewtah looked. I was thinking - it's good we're not playing them this year - they would thrash the Y. A discouraging realization. How to right the ship?

It's amazing how many things fell into place for us this year to make a good run until we gave it up. How often does that happen? Maybe the real silver lining in Friday's debacle is that many BYU fans have finally woken up to the realities of Bronco as HC.

What are those realities? He can't defend the long ball? He can't sack the quarterback? He can't catch a bubble screen on the two-yard line? BYU is fortunate to have Bronco as HC and I am as awake as I have ever been between General Conference sessions ;)

I suppose the first route the Bronco apologists will go is to blame the players. And certainly there's blame to be had there. But it all begins and ends with the coaching staff. That debacle on Friday night was the result of a complete failure on the part of the coaches to prepare adequately. We had two weeks to heal up and prep, we're at home, and we get smacked around like that? There's nothing you can say, no excuse you can come up with, that makes Bronco or anyone else on that staff look good coming out of this. BYU is fortunate to have Bronco as HC? Perhaps at one time. In some ways maybe still. But, as I said, it's been a case of diminishing returns in recent years. So many things were lining up in BYU's favor this year and we threw it away. And ya know what? I bet Bronco hasn't lost a minute of sleep over it.



The reality? Bronco may still get us to 10+ win seasons, though not as often as before, but we don't go undefeated in his tenure. BYU is good under Bronco, occasionally good enough to make others around the nation take notice, but will never go anywhere with it. Just good enough to get BYU fan's hopes up before at least 1 or 2 losses brings us crashing back down to Earth. Like I said - fool's gold.

If you are searching for your BYU Football Nirvana like the prospectors of old, then you will indeed more than likely find nothing more than Fool's gold. How many undefeated seasons has there been in the history of BYU football? You and I both know the answer to that question. If you are a fan that "crashes" back down to earth after 1 or 2 losses, then you have one bruised and battered body. Best to keep yourself grounded in reality as a fan IMO. Not a Bronco apologist in the least, but you completely oversimplify a bad loss when you say it all begins and ends with the coaching staff IMO. You make some broad sweeping generalizations about what preparation or lack of preparation went into this game for 2 weeks, about Bronco's level of concern and commitment to the program, etc. without any first-hand knowledge or experience on your part. You really think all the coaching staff did for two weeks was sit around drinking caffeine free diet coke, eating pizza, and playing Madden 2014? I envy someone like you who has never had anything go to hell in a hand basket no matter how well prepared you were or unprepared for that matter :roll:

If you look at future schedules, I don't feel an expectation for 10+ win seasons year in and year out is realistic. There are Pac 12, Big 10, and other games getting on the schedule and national travel. As schedules become more and more P5-ish, the expectations will need to adjust.

kngcoug is just having his yearly meltdown. Funny how he only shows up when it is easy to take a shot at bronco or anae.
