Only 8 Possible Undefeateds Remain

While there are currently 17 remaining teams undefeated in the FBS ranks, mathematically only 8 can run the table from here:



1--BYU can win out. Duh.



2--TCU, Baylor, and Oklahoma are all undefeated in the Big XII, but they all play each other, so only one of them can win out and be undefeated at season's end, even without a conference championship.



3--Florida St. and Ga. Tech are undefeated, but if they win out in the regular season, they would play each other in the ACC championship, leaving only one undefeated possible between the two.



4--Nebraska is the only unbeaten left in the "Big" "10" and can win out.



5--Notre Dame can win out.



6--Marshall in the only unbeated left in CUSA and can win out.



7--Oregon, Arizona, and UCLA are all unbeaten out of the PAC10+2, but only one can emerge undefeated in the end.



8--TA&M, 'Bama, Miss St, Auburn, and Ole Miss are all undefeated in the SEC West yet only one can be undefeated going into the conference championship.



Now, there are other elimination games as well in OOC play, but there is still always a road to 8 undefeateds--for example, ND plays FSU, but if FSU loses to both ND and Ga. Tech, there is still a road to 8 unbeatens.

The list of 17 WILL be reduced to no more than 13 this weekend because of the following matchups:



Ole Miss . Alabama

Texas A&M v. MSU

Oregon v. Arizona

Oklahoma v. TCU



But, there would still be 8 possible undefeateds.



Michigan St. could erase Nebraska from the list of possible 8's with a win this weekend.



Also, Stanford could remove Notre Dame from the list this weekend, but I'm still cheering for the Irish - because Stanford is still a PAC 12 championship contender, so you have to pull for the OOC loss. Plus, Notre Dame still has plenty of chances for multiple losses, with FSU, ASU, Louisville, USC, and even UNC still on the schedule.
