The Deseret News article reporting the Ute loss, in the reader comments, carried over some comments from Chris B, Michael Romney, and several other infamous Utes that troll every BYU article, beating and thumping their chests, saying WSU is the worst, no way Utah could lose, bring on UCLA, Stanford, USC, and Oregon - not even bothering to mention lowly ASU and Arizona. Then after kickoff, the pick 6. Blowout predicted. Then the punt return TD. Rout is on. Then the 70 yard rushing TD. PAC and National Glory is in their sights.



BAM. Then it goes really quiet from that contingent even though well over 200 comments followed.



Perhaps the piling on by BYU fans was cruel and over the top, but the silencing of the lambs dressed in Airwolf clothing was funny as heckck.



If someone with better resources than I gave can find the link and post it, the entertainment value of the first 30 or so comments is priceless.

So a ute fan just brought up the game they just botched and had this to say



I don't know the guy, I think he felt an awkward silence sitting by me in my BYU shirt while he was wearing his ute garb.



So our conversation went a little like this....

Him: Because those 4 wins are against sub-par teams and were in the pac-12



Me: I guess your right, those wins against the powerhouses Idaho St and Fresno blow a Texas and Virginia win out of the water

We go to a bowl game this year, regardless of the loss tonight. The yewts bowl still may not happen. The hardest part of their schedule has just begun.

You might want to listen to Bronco post game. Defense was a huge disappointment.

Yea, not sure how this is on anae, he didn't ask our guys to fumble 3 times (the second one, btw, Stuart's knee was down before the ball came out. Not sure why there was no review.) the offense did their job, defense didn't get it done this game.

the third quarter goose egg by the O is a very big part of the loss. The D stunk on ice, but the O was no better in the third ... and that (the third quarter) is where the game was lost ...imo.

The missed field goal and the first fumble were huge, but nothing a defensive stop would not have overcome. Special teams missed the field goal, not the offense.



Somebody posted a stat before the game saying BYU has not lost a game since forever when they scored 30 or more points. They got 35 yesterday, would have had 38 if the field goal was made, and had a shot at another TD, but the timeouts had all been burned and thus they had to throw everything to the short sideline and still were progressing.



There is no reason other than bad defense and poor special teams play to lose a game where you score 5 tds, and also put your team in fg range.

The second and third fumbles weren't so great either. ;)



If the offense had put ANYthing together in the third quarter, the game would have been different. The defense would have had some rest, could have made some changes and Nevada's offense would not have gotten on track the same way.



I don't disagree that 35 points SHOULD be enough to win, and the defense is responsible for 35 points being too little. BUT, your offense MUST play a whole game too and BYU's offense was terrible in the third quarter and didn't look great most of the 2nd half.



I guess my point is: the loss was a team effort. The offense made too many mistakes and didn't produce at key times. The defense was destroyed (in the second half especially).
