BYU vs Utah - Miami Beach Bowl

It is way early, But USA Today is predicting this. It is not likely if we are undefeated, because a better bowl should be available. But, if we lose 1 or 2 games - BAM.



It would take some horse trading, but I am sure that Bowls would love to rake in the coin from a rivalry bowl game, but someplace out west would make a lot more sense if they want to fill the stadium. But, more hotel rooms, etc., might happen back east due to fewer local fans and more traveling fans.

More likely BYU gets moved to, say, the Vegas bowl, than Utah gets moved to the Miami Beach Bowl. If BYU and Utah play in a bowl this yaer, it will be out west, not in Florida.

I want to play someone better than a 6 loss team in a bowl game. :roll:

Did utah move into the AAC without me knowing it? The Miami beach bowl is contracted to pit BYU against an AAC team.

It's a mystery why TH partnered with this bowl. Not very many BYU fans are traveling to Miami. It's preposterous. We have gone from a dumb no-name bowl that was closer, to the a no-name bowl in the farthest major city away from Utah. Better off in the potato bowl. Many more fans would travel to Idaho.

Playing Utah would have more appeal in Miami than Bo-diddly-tech. I would actually consider going to have a chance to play the cut and runnin Utes.

Playing in Florida is good for recruiting



There's a very large LDS population in Orlando... and as long as we don't end up replaying houston or ucf, I'll be there... I like the idea of a real vacation spot for a bowl game, though san fran was cold and ridiculously packed; Miami will be perfect.



I think it's 33% we end up in a NY6, but if we do end up in Miami, I hope it's against Utah, I don't care if they're 6-6 we need to beat them and beat them good.

Bowls are free to play "let's make a deal" with other bowls. When money starts flying around because Bowl A wants a particular match-up, anything is possible.



I speculated that bowls would be thinking about this should U miraculously become bowl eligible and before BYU beat Texas and started to have a legit shot at going undefeated.



This would just be too good of an opportunity for bowls to pass up if the teams both have reasonably similar bowl options. Easy to make a deal.



BUT, If BYU is 12-0 and Utah is 6-6, Utah would not get a New Years Bowl and BYU would not want to walk away from one.



Early to write Utah off or presume BYU undefeated.



How often do you find rivals that did not play each other for some reason, matched up in a bowl game.



Both with a chip on their shoulder.
